❄️ Cold Weather & Tooth Sensitivity

Have you noticed your teeth feeling a little “on edge” when you step outside in the cold? ❄️🥶
Winter weather can sometimes make teeth feel more sensitive, and here’s why:

🌡️ Why it happens:
Cold air causes temperature changes that can reach the inner layers of the teeth.
This can create short, sharp sensations, especially if:

Enamel has worn down

You’re brushing too hard

You have exposed tooth surfaces

The good news is — it’s common, manageable and treatable!

🦷 What Can Help:

1️⃣ Use a Toothpaste for Sensitivity
These help protect the nerve inside the tooth over time. Different toothpastes work in different ways so try a few if one doesn't feel like its improving the issue.

2️⃣ Avoid Brushing Too Hard
Ensure you pay attention to the pressure sensor on your electric toothbrush or hold your brush between your thumb and forefinger (not your whole hand) to reduce the pressure you are able to use.

3️⃣ Try Breathing Through Your Nose Outdoors
Less cold air hitting the teeth = less discomfort!

4️⃣ Use a straw when drinking colder liquids.

5️⃣ Book a Check-Up if It Continues
Persistent sensitivity can be a sign of:

Exposure of dentine

Tooth wear

Small cracks

Decay

Gum recession

…and it’s always best to have it assessed professionally.
