Hope everyone has had the best Christmas and wishing you all a happy and healthy new year. Thanks so much for all the continued support, tea, cake and brilliant chats again this year. It really helps us to love our jobs and we couldn’t do it without you all 🥰

Also thanks for bearing with my slightly chaotic admin 🙈 I promise I will have caught up before we go back in Jan but at the moment we are having a week off to enjoy spending time with the children, catching up with friends, family and riding our ponies 💗

Are you too old to dress your event horse up as a reindeer? Asking for a friend 🤣

Our reminder system is working again for October reminders and onwards 🥳 However it has un-helpfully lost all the reminders for horses that are due in August or September so if you think your horse might be due around now the likelyhood is you won’t get a reminder at all sorry🤦‍♀️ Technology is brilliant when it works 😵‍💫😅

Our automatic reminder system is not currently working. I’ve sent out the August reminders manually but if you think your horse might be due in September or October then please get in touch. It’s being looked into by the company we use so hopefully won’t take long to resolve 🐎😃

This weekend I attended the annual BAEDT AGM. Every BAEDT member has to be up to date with their CPD (continued professional development), have their work checked every 3 years and attend the AGM. It’s a great way to catch up with like minded people from across the country. Another great reason to make sure you’re using someone that’s a BAEDT member (the members list can be found on their website).

Here I’m pictured catching up with some of the Cornish EDT’s Thea & Georgia.

Hope everyone has had a brilliant Christmas and New Year 🥰 we certainly have with two very excited little people keeping us busy😁

We have been working quite a bit over the festive period as we are off skiing next week so might be a bit slow with the admin⛷️❄️ I think I’m fairly up to date on all my messages for a change 😅🙏🥳 so prod me if I’ve forgotten you!

Thank you all again so much for your continued support over the past year. We’ve been busier than we could have ever imagined and we are so grateful to you all for trusting us with your horses 🐴 onwards and upwards to 2025 😃

Archaeologists studying Mongolian horse remains discovered that early nomadic cultures practiced equine dentistry as far back as 1150BCE, in the late Bronze Age. This period is closely linked with the beginning of horseback riding and the rise of mobile pastoralism.

Research also shows evidence of extracted wolf teeth by 750 BCE, which coincides with the introduction of metal bits. The use of metal bits often caused oral trauma, leading to the need for dental care.

These findings suggest that nomadic people were pioneers in veterinary care, with their innovations in equine dentistry not only enhancing communication, trade, and military power but also playing a crucial role in integrating horses into cultures and economies worldwide, ultimately reshaping human societies.
