Let’s talk about how to clean retainers & aligners at home! 💁‍♀️
Swipe through to see the videos, explanations are in the captions below.👇

Daily Clean 👇

Retainers:

•Remove your retainers and rinse with cool water.
•Use an old toothbrush and liquid hand soap to clean both inside and outside of the retainers, ensuring you are supporting both sides to avoid damaging them.
•Do not use hot water as it will distort the shape of the retainers. Do not use toothpaste on retainers as it is abrasive over time.
•Pat dry carefully.
•Place the clean retainers in a container (retainer box or tupperware) to keep them safe! Keep them where you are going to remember to wear them, and out of the way of any pets that may want to chew on them.
•You can use an ultrasonic pod if you would like, however the method above keeps them just as clean.

Aligners:

•You can use the above method to clean aligners or:
•You can clean aligners with toothpaste (as you will only be wearing them maximum of 2 weeks).
•Make sure you use cool water and clean inside and outside of aligners.
•Store in their container when not in use, to avoid loosing them.

Weekly clean 👇

Retainers:

•Use a retainer cleaning tablet (we sell some here, or they are available online).
•Dissolve in a glass of cool water and place retainers in for as long as instructions advise (usually around 15 minutes).
•Once the time is complete, remove retainers from the solution and rinse thoroughly.
•Pat dry carefully.
•Place the clean retainers in a container and store in a safe place.

Aligners:

•You can use the above method to clean aligners or:
•You can clean aligners with toothpaste (as you will only be wearing them maximum of 2 weeks).
•Make sure you use cool water and clean inside and outside of aligners.
•Store in their container when not in use, to avoid loosing them.

Just a polite reminder, if you’re unable to attend your appointment, please contact us ASAP, as unfortunately we do end up with a lot of wasted clinic time that could be used to treat other people who need it.

We always send out an appointment reminder, by email, 2 working days before your appointment, so please use this opportunity to double check you’re still able to attend.

Thank you!
