Inhalation Sedation for Children 🦷

Dental treatment can sometimes feel overwhelming for children. Inhalation sedation, also known as “happy air” or “laughing gas,” can help reduce anxiety and make dental treatment a calmer, more comfortable experience.

Nitrous oxide is gently delivered with oxygen through a small nose mask. It can create a warm, relaxed feeling and help children feel more confident and cooperative during treatment, without the need for a general anaesthetic.

✨ A few things to know:

• Your child remains awake and can communicate with the dental team
• It can be helpful for nervous children or those with a strong gag reflex
• Your child needs to be able to breathe comfortably through their nose
• Recovery is usually quick, with children able to go home once they are alert and responsive
• A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child

Our team will always assess your child individually and explain what to expect before treatment, helping make their visit as relaxed and positive as possible.
