At some point we have all been asked the question:
"How often do you brush your teeth? Do you floss?" and the answer we give is likely "Not as often as I should."
From a young age we've had these tasks enforced on us like a chore. Brushing our teeth because other people tell us to, rather than for our own benefit!
So let's reframe.
Brushing your teeth and flossing are a form of self-care and while it may initially feel like a task, it puts you in control of your future health.
I'm sure we have all been lectured about plaque and why we floss. But let's talk about the psychological benefits rather than the physical!
Waking up and brushing your teeth automatically puts YOU in control of YOUR day. If we wake up and make our beds, we have chosen to start the day in control. So not only does it have a long term positive impact on your physical health, but also your mental health too!
Self-care is about choosing you, and putting yourself first.
