It was a fresh start for these upper central teeth!

This patient had received composite bonding several years ago from an NHS dentist.

The bonding was unfortunately chipping and failing, so he came to Dr. Will for a refresh.

We replaced the composite on both his upper central teeth, closing the gap and creating the uniform, natural smile he desired.

At this point, this patient's teeth were nicely straight - but we weren't done yet!

We used a rectangular stainless-steel wire to reposition the root (torque) of the tooth, as well as the crown.

Because having straight teeth isn't only about what's visible; equally as important is what's happening under the gums.

Once the lateral incisor was brought forward, we used the rectangular wire to gain more control, reposition the root to be upright, and achieve the best aesthetic result.

This is a great example of how finer details can take a treatment from good to great!

Introducing the piggyback wire!

After creating the space needed to realign this patient's teeth, there was one lateral incisor left out of place.

We faced a challenge: bringing that single tooth into alignment, without disrupting the rest.

So, we used a piggyback wire. This allowed us to hold the rest of the teeth exactly where they were, while moving a single tooth forward and into the right position.

In just one appointment, we moved that lateral incisor forwards, in line with the rest of the teeth!

This patient wasn’t happy with dark staining from old failing composites on their front teeth.

A gap between two front teeth = Great progress.

This patient had a crowded upper arch, until we got to work!

Using a rapid maxillary expander (RME), we widened his upper arch and in the process created a gap between the front teeth.

That gap was exactly what we wanted. It indicated that we’d created the necessary space to shift everything forward and into the right place.
