This morning, one horse was diagnosed with a keratoma with the vet and X-rays
Later in the day, a second horse post-keratoma surgery required a hoof rebuild. A heart bar shoe with additional clips was applied to reduce load on the hoof wall and stabilise the hoof capsule while recovery continues.

Set of Squish Pads from The Shoeing Lab Limited fitted to a pony suffering severely with laminitis. Feet trimmed correctly to proper geometric proportions. The pony was instantly more comfortable, which was noticeable as soon as I applied the first one.

Horse suffering with lateral hock displacement. As a result of this, the hoof’s balance had been affected, which in turn was making the horse’s action worse. FittedJim Blurton Farrier Productsoducts lateral extensions, which gave the horse a stable platform on which to land and push off from. Wish I’d taken videos of this horse, as the difference pre- and post-shoeing was remarkable.

Horse suffering with a severe hoof imbalance and shunted medial heel. As a result, the horse’s action wasn’t correct, landing hard on the outside and secondary loading the inside of the hoof. Balanced the hoof with a good, solid trim, making sure medial/lateral balance was correct and the inside heel had a chance to relax. Rolled the outside edge of the shoe to reduce peak force during the landing phase. Fitted with Jim Blurton Farrier Products straight bars to help stabilise the hoof capsule. The horse was moving brilliantly post shoeing

Some 3dgree frog support wedge pads Jim Blurton Farrier Products for this horse to help aid in making him more comfortable along with some roller motion shoes with a rolled toe to ease break over and bring the break over point further back and reduce lever arms

From January my prices will be going up
Due to the cost of living going up and the cost of materials
Insurances
Farrier Registration Fees
Furthering my education and gaining higher qualifications in Farriery
Etc
I’ve kept my prices as low as I can but had a meeting with my accountant and they will have to go up.

My new prices from January will be:
£105 set
£70 for front shoes trim backs
£40 for trims where’s there’s more than one
Single trim £45
And remedial work will be priced on each individual case

After months of hard work, dedication, and studying, for TWO FULL INTENSE DAYS OF EXAMS. I am now in my final year of my Bachelors of Science Degree in Farriery 🙌. Along with submitting a research study Proposal and hopefully doing my dissertation next year!
