⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ATTENDING THE PRACTICE FOR AN APPOINTMENT⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you have an appointment over the coming months, you will notice some changes in the way you are looked after by the practice, in procedures around the building and with protocols we ask you to follow. Some of these changes are mentioned below and are important to adhere to when visiting Bod Heulog.

Once you have an appointment the dentist will phone you several days before to go through the medical questionnaire to update our records, and ask you some questions relating to COVID- 19 symptoms. They will also advise you of the changes that the practice has put in place to safeguard you from the virus, and the cost of the treatment.
On the day of the appointment the dentist or receptionist will call again, to check that you are feeling ok and you are not suffering any COVID- 19 symptoms, they will also tell you of the changes to the practice, and will advise you how to make a payment for treatment- pre or post treatment, and contactless or over the phone.

We ask that you:
* attend the practice alone- if someone is bringing you, where possible they should remain outside the practice and wait.
* bring few/no personal belongings, any that you do bring- keys, phone, purse/wallet will be placed in a sealable box and placed outside the surgery.
* attend promptly at the appointment time- we have had to allow for treatment, surgery fallow times and additional cleaning and therefore cannot see you if you attend late. The waiting room is also currently out of use for the foreseeable future, so there is nowhere to wait inside the building if you are early.
* ring the practice to advise us that you have arrived when you are stood outside our front door, the nurse will then allow you entry into the practice.
* use the bathroom before leaving home as our bathroom is also out of use for the foreseeable future.
* please wear your own face mask/ covering as PPE is in short supply and we need to conserve ours for the practice, to enable us to continue to see patients.

As soon as the nurse has let you into the practice, she will need to take your temperature and record this on your medical questionnaire. You will be asked to place your belongings in a box and then sanitise your hands; the nurse will then ask you to check and sign your medical questionnaire. You will then be taken to the surgery, please try to touch as little as possible on your way through the practice.
We advise that you keep your face covering on at all times within the practice, the dentist will advise when it is time to remove it. You will be given a pre-treatment mouth rinse and then the dentist will carry out the necessary treatment. Once treatment is complete, you will be asked to replace your face covering and sanitise your hands, you will collect your belongings from the box and then escorted to reception to pay, or to the exit if you are paying over the phone.

Staff will endeavour to maintain social distancing where appropriate, and depending on the treatment that you attend for, there may be additional, enhanced PPE in place; especially if your treatment requires use of any water producing equipment as these produce additional aerosol.

Appointments will be managed to make the surgery as efficient as possible, so that patients requiring treatments are not having to wait too long before their appointment date, and also to reduce the risk of interaction with other patients in the practice.

We ask that once you are given an appointment, if you or someone you live with/have contact with has any symptoms of the virus that you self isolate, and ring the practice to advise us immediately and reschedule your appointment.

If you have any problems or require further advice, please call the practice on: 01745 342996 and a member of our team will be happy to help you.

We hope to see you soon. Stay safe.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ HYGIENE TREATMENTS- CONTINUED DELAY⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

To All my Patients,

I hope that you have all managed to stay fit and healthy through lockdown, and have been able to enjoy the lovely weather we have been having. It has certainly made being away from work for so long a little easier to endure.
I just wanted to let you all know of the current situation regarding hygiene appointments at the moment.

The practice is opening its doors on 1st July as set out in a previous post, and the dentists will be able to see you for any problems that you may have. Unfortunately, due to the virulence of COVID-19, and the nature of the treatment that I provide, I will not be back at work in a Hygienist capacity for some time yet!

I will be present in the practice on occasion- you may even see me in surgery nursing alongside the dentists, or answering the telephone in reception, but my scaling instruments are taking a well earned break. I have a list of all patients who have missed an appointment due to the practice closing and who are now behind on their treatments.

Once I am able to start seeing patients, myself and reception will start to contact you all (via phone, email, letter) to reappoint you as soon as possible. If you have had a change of details, please ring the practice to update us ASAP- if your details are incorrect it could delay the treatment you need.

If you are having a dental problem that you would like to speak to me about or just to get some advice, then please ring the practice; if I’m available I will speak to you and endeavour to help/advise on the best way forward. If I’m unavailable reception may be able to help you, or please leave a message with reception and I will contact you in due course.

When it is deemed safe for me to start treating patients again, I will be looking at my diary to try to accommodate as many patients as possible, so I may do extra sessions here and there, where surgery availability allows.

I hope to see you all soon and get back to normality.

Take care and stay safe.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ WE ARE OPENING ON 1st JULY! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unfortunately, due to ongoing restrictions by the Welsh Government on dental practices, we will be working in a diminished capacity when we open.

Initially we will only be able to see those who the dentists have treated over the lockdown period, and any patients who require emergency treatment due to ongoing pain.

We ask that you do NOT attend the practice at this time; as we cannot have too many people on the premises due to restricted contact and social distancing, and because we will only have a skeleton staff. The door will remain locked and we will only allow entrance to the practice to those with an appointment with the dentist.

If you are experiencing a problem, please call the practice on: 01745 342996, and speak to a member of our team; they will endeavour to help and advise you appropriately.

We understand that many of you have had appointments cancelled- both routine exams and treatments. We have kept a list of all those who have had appointments cancelled, and we will be contacting you all to get you reappointed in the near future; once we are able to resume a normal schedule of dentistry. We hope that dentistry will move through the post lockdown phases quicker than predicted, and will therefore be able to offer more complex treatments sooner than anticipated, provided we have the correct PPE in place.

Currently, we are experiencing a few difficulties acquiring some of the new PPE that dentistry needs- as highlighted by the media recently, which will continue to limit the treatments we can provide; but we are looking into other avenues of supply and acquisition.

We would ask that you bare with us at this time, as we try to get the practice back on track and work to make sure that our practice is a safe environment for you to visit. We are working very hard behind the scenes, with extra training and following new protocols and procedures to enable us to open fully as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support over the years and your patience over the coming months- we hope to see you all very soon.

Take care and stay safe!

An update for our patients:

You will all be aware of the global health crisis regarding COVID-19 currently affecting the UK. We have been following the progress of this disease and after the Chief Dental Officer for Wales issued guidelines early last week, we have been working hard to alter our working procedures to follow that guidance. This initially meant stopping aerosol generating procedures.

Even though we work to the most stringent of cross-infection procedures, we are aware that we need to play a part in helping reduce transmission of this novel Corona virus.

On Friday 20th March 2020 the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced the closure of pubs, restaurants and more, with the hope of limiting social contact and to encourage self-isolation. Hopefully this will slow the rate of transmission and reduce risk to the general population.

In order to protect you, other patients, and our staff, we are stopping any routine care from the week beginning March 23rd 2020. This is in line with recommendations given by the British Dental Association and other professional bodies.

We are remaining open for emergency care – this means for cases of trauma, uncontrolled pain, or swelling. Anything that can be postponed, will be.

How will we do this?

If you have an examination or routine treatment booked, we will be contacting you to inform you that we need to postpone your care.

If you feel you need to visit the practice, we ask you to call us beforehand on 01745 342996. We are open for emergencies only. You will not be allowed into the building without an appointment so we are asking you to call when you arrive at the practice and we will let you in.

All patients requiring emergency care will be triaged over the phone. If an appointment is needed then you will be given a time to attend the practice.

Thank you

We are grateful for the understanding and friendship everyone is showing us at this time. We look forward to a time when normality returns, and we can resume care and treatment. We hope to see you then.

In the meantime, stay safe.

❌ Coronavirus (COVID-19) ❌

As you will be aware we have been taking extra precautions to protect both staff and patients.

Following the latest advice from the Welsh Government;

● Routine dentistry such as fillings, scale and polishes etc will be postponed for all patients until further notice

● Routine check ups will be carried out as normal for those under 70, and who have no underlying health problems

● Emergency appointments will still be available for those who are in pain

If you have any queries regarding your upcoming appointments, please call the practice on 01745 342996.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
