Invisalign is designed to be comfortable, but like any orthodontic treatment, there can occasionally be a few adjustments along the way.

In today’s video, Dr Antonia talks about her own experience with irritation and ulceration caused by an aligner rubbing against the inside of her lip.

She had been warned by Dr Betty that her aligners might need to be trimmed slightly but decided she knew best… As it turned out, Betty was right!

After experiencing some swelling and discomfort, Antonia had the aligners adjusted to improve the fit and comfort.

If you experience persistent rubbing, soreness or ulceration during Invisalign treatment, please contact your dentist so they can assess the fit of your aligners and advise you appropriately.

Antonia also shares her experience of using orthodontic wax for temporary relief.

A reminder that even when you’re a dentist yourself, your own Invisalign journey can come with a few unexpected moments!

Meet Team Lloyd & Jenny!

In our first Meet the Team video, Dr Antonia introduces two familiar faces at The Dental Wave.

Lloyd is our sedation dentist with a focus on sedation, extractions, implants and socket preservation. Jenny works alongside Lloyd and supports our wider dental team across the practice.

We also asked them what they would say to anyone who feels nervous about visiting the dentist.

Their answer? Take things at your own pace, ask questions and don’t feel you have to have treatment straight away.

As Jenny says, sometimes you can simply come in for a consultation and have a chat first.
