🌟 Meet Heather! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Heather, our new Dental Hygienist, to the William Street Dental team.

Heather brings a wealth of experience, having qualified in Glasgow in 1995. She is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and has continued to develop her skills throughout her career, most recently completing an NEBDN qualification in Dental Radiography.

Heather has already made a fantastic impression since joining us. Her friendly personality, positive attitude and professionalism have shone through, and we’ve had brilliant feedback from both our patients and the rest of the team.

We’re genuinely delighted to have someone with Heather’s experience and enthusiasm joining William Street Dental.

Amy joins us as an experienced dental nurse, and even in her short time with us, she has already shown what an enthusiastic and compassionate person she is, and she’s certainly not afraid of a chat! 😂

She’s a fantastic addition to our team, bringing valuable experience while remaining eager to continue learning and developing her skills.

A great day of Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) training with some of the WSD team 🦷

We’re proud to continue investing in evidence-based, high-quality hygiene care for our patients, and today was all about developing our knowledge and skills with the GBT approach.

Meet Maeve! 👋

It has always been our goal at William Street Dental to build a team of clinicians who are enthusiastic about what they do, committed to continually improving and, above all, focused on their patients and the quality of their dentistry.

With that in mind, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Dr Maeve McAllister to the William Street Dental team! 🦷

Maeve embodies that ethos. She has invested significantly in her professional development, already completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Restorative Care, alongside a strong commitment to evidence-based, high-quality dentistry.

Her enthusiasm also extends to the wider profession, with active involvement in the British Dental Association and its committees, reflecting her commitment not only to her patients, but to the continued development of dentistry as a profession.

There’s a real sense of growth and positivity around William Street Dental at the moment, and we’re delighted to have Maeve joining us as part of that next chapter.

🦷 Let’s Talk Orthodontic Relapse!

One of the most common things we see is patients who had beautifully straight teeth as teenagers, but over the years they’ve gradually moved again.

In this case, a short course of fixed orthodontic treatment was all that was needed to realign the lower teeth. We then placed a fixed bonded retainer, and the patient will also wear a removable retainer at night to help maintain the result.

The key message?

Retention is for life.

Teeth naturally want to move throughout life, whether you’ve had braces as a teenager or as an adult. Wearing your retainers is the best way to protect the time, effort and investment you’ve made in your smile.
