Money Talk!

One question patients understandably ask is:

“Why does dental treatment cost what it does?”

It’s a fair question. What you see might be a filling, crown or denture, but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes -skilled clinicians, nurses, equipment, materials, training, regulation, planning and, importantly, time.

I’m not interested in “selling dentistry”. I’m interested in helping patients understand their options and make the right decisions for their health.

Preventative care and early diagnosis can make a huge difference to your oral health, confidence, comfort - and sometimes the cost of treatment in the long term.

At The Mead, I believe in being honest and transparent. No pressure, no jargon - just clear advice and reassurance.

I hope every patient feels they’ve received good value, whatever their treatment may cost. 💜

🦷 Did you know that one of the oldest known examples of dentistry may be a 59,000-year-old Neanderthal tooth?

Archaeologists believe the tooth was deliberately drilled, possibly to relieve pain. It’s incredible to think that even thousands of years ago, people were finding ways to care for one another.

Thankfully, dentistry has come a long way since then! 🦷

At The Mead Dental Practice, we combine the traditional values of care, trust and continuity with modern dentistry, technology and techniques - so thankfully, no sharpened rocks required!

The Mead Weekly Insight 🦷

Following on from my last post about technology and AI in dentistry, I wanted to talk about something much less technical - but something that matters enormously to me.

The relationships we build with our patients.

Having cared for patients at The Mead for over 50 years, across generations, I’ve seen how important continuity of care really is.

For some patients, particularly those who feel anxious or haven’t visited for a while, simply feeling comfortable and safe when they walk through the door can be a huge step.

For me, good dentistry is about much more than clinical results. It’s about trust, understanding and taking the time to do what’s right for each individual.

That’s something I’ll always value. 💜

With children home for the summer, snacks can become a much bigger part of the day. Treats are absolutely fine, but from a dental point of view, it's often the frequency of sugary foods and drinks that matters most.
