Your wedding smile doesn’t happen overnight… but with a little planning, it can feel effortless 💍✨

If you’re thinking about your smile for the big day, here’s a gentle guide to timing your treatments:

🦷 Teeth straightening – start 18–12 months before
✨ Composite bonding – refine 3–6 months before
🤍 Whitening – brighten 2–4 weeks before
🫧 Airflow GBT clean – your final glow 1–2 weeks before

Every smile journey is unique, and there’s no “one size fits all.” The most important thing is starting at the right time for you — so everything feels calm, natural, and never rushed.

At Larkham House Dental Practice, we’re here to guide you every step of the way, with subtle, confidence-boosting results 🤍

If your wedding is on the horizon and you’d like some advice, you’re always welcome to get in touch for a friendly chat.

National Smile Month Conversation Starter:
Are you brushing too hard? 💪🪥

It’s a common thought…
👉 “The harder I brush, the cleaner my teeth will be.”

But in reality, brushing too hard can do more harm than good.

Over time, too much pressure can:
• Wear down enamel
• Cause gum recession
• Lead to sensitivity
• Damage the gum line

Not quite the result you’re hoping for…

A helpful way to think about it:
🪥 Brushing should be gentle and thorough — not forceful

If your toothbrush bristles are splaying out quickly, that’s often a sign you’re pressing too hard.

A few gentle tips:
✨ Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
✨ Hold it with a light grip (not a tight fist)
✨ Let the brush do the work

Sometimes, it’s small habits like this that make the biggest difference to your long-term smile.

We’ll keep these conversations going throughout National Smile Month — because the things we don’t realise often matter most.

If you’re ever unsure about your brushing technique, you’re always welcome to chat with our team 🤍

A visit to the dentist doesn’t have to feel overwhelming 🤍

At Larkham House Dental Practice, we understand that many patients feel nervous or anxious—and that’s okay. Creating a calm, compassionate environment is at the heart of everything we do.

From a warm welcome at reception to gentle, clear communication throughout your appointment, our team takes the time to listen, reassure, and support you every step of the way.

Small touches can make a big difference—whether it’s explaining procedures in simple terms, going at your pace, or simply offering a moment to pause and breathe.

Your comfort matters just as much as your care.

If you’ve been putting off your visit, we’re here when you feel ready 💬

Your skin tells a story — knowing what to look for could help you spot when something isn’t quite right. 💙

This Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we’re supporting Melanoma Focus to help raise awareness of the different types of melanoma and why early detection matters.

Not all melanomas look the same — some are flat, some raised, some appear in unexpected places like under nails or on the soles of your feet. That’s why getting familiar with your own skin is so important.

If you notice anything new, changing, or unusual, it’s always worth getting it checked. It might be nothing — but peace of mind is priceless.

And a gentle reminder: SPF isn’t just for holidays… your future self will thank you ☀️

Stay hydrated. Stay performing. But don’t forget your smile 🦷💧

Sports drinks might feel like the healthy choice — boosting energy and replenishing electrolytes — but behind the label, they can be tough on your teeth.

That acidic hit softens enamel. Add sugar into the mix, and it’s a fast track to tooth wear and decay. And if you’re sipping throughout the day? That’s even more exposure your teeth don’t need.

The good news — small habits make a big difference:
✔ Choose water when you can
✔ Use a straw
✔ Rinse after drinking
✔ Wait before brushing

Your performance matters. Your smile does too.

National Smile Month Conversation Starter:
Love is sharing… but not your toothbrush 😅🪥

It might sound surprising, but toothbrush sharing is more common than you’d think — whether it’s in a rush, on holiday, or even between couples.

But here’s the not-so-lovely part…

Toothbrushes can carry and transfer:
• Tooth decay bacteria
• Gum disease bacteria
• Cold sores and infections
• Even viruses and general illness

Suddenly not so romantic…

A simple way to think about it:
👉 You probably wouldn’t share a towel… so why a toothbrush?

It’s a small habit, but it makes a big difference to your oral health (and your partner’s too).

A few gentle reminders:
🪥 One toothbrush per person
🪥 Store them separately
🪥 Replace every 2–3 months

We’ll be sharing more conversation starters throughout National Smile Month — the kind that get people thinking (and talking).

If you ever want advice about your smile or oral health, our team is always here for a friendly chat 🤍
