For some patients, an orthodontic appointment can feel overwhelming — and that’s completely okay.

At Helix House Orthodontics, we want every patient to feel listened to, supported and comfortable throughout their visit. If you experience dental anxiety, please tell us. Small adjustments can make a big difference.

You can ask for things such as extra time to talk everything through, step-by-step explanations, a signal to pause, short breaks, headphones or music, or bringing someone with you for support where appropriate.

Compassionate care means going at your pace and making sure you feel in control of your appointment.

Wondering whether your child may need orthodontic treatment? 🦷

An IOTN assessment is a helpful place to start. IOTN stands for the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need, the grading system used by the NHS to assess whether a child meets the criteria for NHS orthodontic treatment.

At Helix House, assessments are carried out by Sharon, our highly experienced Orthodontic Therapist. She will carefully assess your child’s teeth and bite, explain her findings clearly and help you understand the most appropriate next steps.

With NHS waiting times potentially reaching up to 12 months for an initial assessment and up to 36 months before treatment begins, choosing a private assessment can give your family clarity sooner.
