An update on NHS dental services at our practice
As you will know, the Prime Minister has confirmed that public restrictions have been significantly eased on 19th July.
Under the Government's guidance "Health and care settings will continue to maintain appropriate infection prevention and control processes as necessary and this will be continually reviewed. Guidance will be updated based on the latest clinical evidence this
summer." You can find this online: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-summer-2021-roadmap/covid-19-response-summer-2021

In line with the Government’s guidance, England’s Chief Dental Officer Sara Hurley has informed us that the infection prevention control measures in dentistry should continue to be followed until further notice. These are important measures from Public Health England aimed at limiting the spread of the virus in dental settings. We’re also continuing to follow NHS dentistry’s standard operating procedure which helps us make this guidance work.

This means three things for patients:
1. If you need to come into the surgery for an appointment, please remember that social distancing remains in place in the dental practice and to wear a face covering upon entering the building.

2. We will continue to have restrictions on leaving time between patients to ventilate rooms if we perform an aerosol generating procedure. An aerosol generating procedure (AGP) is a medical procedure that can result in the release of airborne particles (aerosols) from the respiratory tract when treating someone who is
suspected or known to be suffering from an infectious agent transmitted wholly or partly by the airborne or droplet route. In dentistry, for example, this means the use of something like a high speed drill. This impacts how many patients we can fit into a
working day.

3. We are also following the Chief Dental Officer’s advice that we should prioritise
patients for treatment based on urgency and priority groups, such as those more at risk of dental disease or children.
Similar public health measures are still in place for hospitals and GP practices, too.
Every dental practice is working extremely hard to provide care to our patients within the restrictions and guidance to ensure it’s safe to visit the dentist.
We hope that this helps clarify why these measures are in place for every NHS dental practice.

Please do give us a call if you think you need to see us, we’re open for patients. Please respect our reception team, they work hard to accommodate patients and abuse will not be tolerated.

Best wishes,

Cripps Dental Team

Covid 19 Update Nov 20
We would like to assure our lovely patients that we will remain open during the forthcoming lockdown period for all your emergency needs and hygiene services.

COVID 19 Update Oct 20
We continue to prioritise our emergency patients in line with NHS England guidelines and as such are still unable to see routine care. However we are in a position to bring back our hygienists and invite all those patients that have had their appointments cancelled in the last 7-8 months to ring our reception in order to book an appointment if they wish.
We are sorry for the current situation that we find ourselves in, however we are doing everything we can to see as many patients as possible in line with current constraints.

COVID 19 UPDATE 23 July 20

As of July 20 we are still dealing with patients that have dental problems only. We thank you for your patience during this difficult time and when the backlog has become more manageable we will look forward to welcoming you all back, this will be done via cancellation lists that we have produced since the March lockdown in order to ensure fairness to those that had treatment and examination appointments already booked. As always we will update the website/facebook when a change occurs.

COVID 19 UPDATE
We hope you and your loved ones are all safe and well and thank you for your patience during this unprecedented time.
It was announced yesterday evening that General Dental Practices will be permitted to reopen in England, if safe to do so, from Monday 8th June. In line with the guidance also issued by the Chief Dental Officer for England, we plan to begin seeing patients again, initially prioritising those with urgent dental needs, from 15th June (this is now revised from the 8th due to PPE resourcing).
There will be many changes to the way dental services are delivered from this point across the whole of the UK. Please be assured that we are taking all the relevant steps in order to keep our patients and staff safe whilst still providing high quality dentistry and care.
We ask for your continued patience and understanding during the next few months as our protocols will evolve as the guidance given to us is continually progressing.
As always, we will keep you updated and provide further information for when routine appointments such as check ups and hygiene visits will commence.
We posted this update on our page that you may have seen earlier today and will continue to post updates and appointment availability on there so please follow us so you dont miss this information.
Please note that at this stage we are unable to make any appointments as we need to completely restructure the appointment diary to accommodate the current guidance to enable social distancing and spacing between appointments.
We shall be in contact next week to give further details of the new working patterns of our practice and how to arrange an appointment.
The whole Cripps Dental team are looking forward to welcoming back our wonderful patients very soon.
Take care and stay safe
Cripps Dental Centre Team.
