Sometimes behind the scenes really is just waiting for the kettle to boil. 😂

But September has also been full of everything else that makes up life at Sunshine Dental... appointments, conversations, familiar faces, new patients, nervous patients being reassured, plenty of teamwork and probably more cups of tea and coffee than we could count.

Sunshine Dental isn’t just treatments and dental chairs. It’s the people, the little moments and the team behind your care too. ☀️

When did you last change your toothbrush, and why does it matter?

Once the bristles become worn, they’re less effective at cleaning your teeth and reaching the areas where plaque can build up.

So have a quick look at yours today. 👀
If those bristles have seen better days, consider this your reminder to swap them for a fresh one!

Being part of a local community isn’t just about having a practice in the area, it’s about the people who walk through the door every day.

The families we see regularly. The familiar faces. The conversations between appointments. The people we’ve got to know over time.

And behind the scenes, it’s a local team doing the everyday things that keep the practice moving… including making the all-important drinks round. 😂☕

We’re proud to be part of the Long Eaton community and grateful to everyone who chooses to support Sunshine Dental.
Because when you choose local, you’re supporting real people behind the business too. ☀️

Teeth can look perfectly fine on the surface while problems are developing where you can’t easily see them...between teeth, around the gumline or underneath existing dental work.

That’s one of the reasons regular dental examinations matter.

Your dentist isn’t just looking at how your teeth look. They’re checking for signs of decay, gum problems, wear, changes in your mouth and anything else that may need attention.

So while a clean-looking smile is a good thing, appearances don’t always tell the whole story.
Regular checks help make sure things are healthy too. 💛

Before your appointment begins, the team are checking notes, preparing the surgery, making sure everything is ready for your visit and getting themselves set for the next patient.
And, somewhere in amongst all of that… there’s usually time for a coffee too. 😂☕

It’s the part of practice life you don’t normally see, but all those little preparations help your appointment run smoothly from the moment you walk through the door.

Just another small glimpse behind the scenes at Sunshine Dental. 💛

A smile makeover isn’t about creating the same “perfect” smile for everyone. It’s about understanding what you would like to change and finding the right combination of treatments to help you feel more confident in your own smile.

That might mean brightening your teeth, improving shape or alignment, replacing missing teeth, or simply making small changes that help your smile feel more like you.

At Sunshine Dental, every smile makeover starts with a conversation about what matters to you.

No copy-and-paste smiles. No one-size-fits-all approach.
Just a personalised plan designed around your teeth, your face and your goals.

We spend plenty of time introducing the team properly, but apparently you can also learn quite a lot about someone from their choice of mug!

So here’s a little behind-the-scenes challenge for you…
Can you guess which mug belongs to which member of the Sunshine Dental team? 👀
There are a few clues in there if you know us well enough!
Pop your guesses in the comments!

It’s easy to assume that if nothing is hurting in your mouth then everything must be fine.
But some dental problems can develop quietly, without pain or obvious warning signs.

Routine dental examinations give your dentist the chance to check your teeth, gums and mouth, spot changes early and keep an eye on anything that may need attention before it becomes a bigger problem.

So even if your teeth feel completely fine, that doesn’t always mean there’s nothing to check.
Regular appointments are about prevention, not just fixing something once it hurts. 💛

A quick cuppa. A chance to regroup. A check of what’s coming next. A few minutes to reset before the next patient walks through the door.

They’re simple, everyday moments, but they’re all part of life at Sunshine Dental too, because behind every appointment is a real team, keeping things moving, supporting each other and getting ready to look after you at your appointment.

A hygiene appointment is about much more than giving your teeth a really good clean.

Our hygienist Rebecca helps patients look after the health of their teeth and gums by:

🦷 Removing plaque and tartar that brushing alone can’t always shift
🦷 Helping to prevent and manage gum disease
🦷 Checking how healthy your gums are
🦷 Giving personalised advice on brushing and cleaning between your teeth
🦷 Helping you build better habits at home
🦷 Keeping your mouth feeling fresher and healthier

Regular hygiene appointments can play a big part in preventing problems before they become more serious.

So if it’s been a while since your last visit, Rebecca can help get you back on track, without judgement, just practical support for a healthier smile.
