Part 3: how we actually treat gum disease 🦷

It starts with a proper assessment — checking gum pockets to see how much inflammation or bone loss we’re dealing with. From there, it’s either a thorough clean and some home routine changes, or a more thorough clean below the gumline (usually 2-3 comfortable visits, thanks to local anaesthetic).

Once treated, it’s all about maintaining it with regular hygiene visits — and you’d be surprised how quickly gums respond.

This patient had experienced significant wear to his upper front teeth for most of his life, but more recently the teeth were beginning to break down further.

His main concern wasn’t cosmetic — it was function. The goal was to restore the teeth, protect what remained and reduce the risk of further wear and fractures.

Using a minimally invasive tooth wear rehabilitation, we restored the upper four front teeth with composite edge bonding, rebuilding the worn edges and restoring function while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.

A conservative approach with a big functional impact. 🦷
