FACEBOOK PAGE HACKED

Sadly the Practice page has been hacked, and some of you have been receiving obscure messages and requests. Just “bin” all those obscure messages and requests- they are not from the Practice.
Apply simple logic, the Practice Facebook exists to merely inform what is going on in Dentistry and our surgery. Nothing else.
At times the Posts will be minimal, and well spaced, for no other reason, there is nothing of interest to report- teeth and their treatment can be pretty boring at times!
You will NEVER be asked to provide Personal details ( Age, DOB, Address, Health, Financial details) on Facebook- all such info may only be exchanged by telephone 0191 2747734, or 0191 2280018, or in person at the surgery.
Sorry to those who have been bamboozled or upset by communications- such is the modern world

SO WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER JOINING PRACTICE PLAN?

Being truly honest, for the 44yrs I’ve been involved with NHS Dentistry, I would have said “ For a better quality, and more responsive service”
However I would have never denigrated the NHS, and was always “Proud to serve the NHS”- I always felt the NHS service we provided was like Marks and Spencer- good quality, dependable, completely acceptable. It was like buying clothes on the High St- M&S wasn’t Armani or Hugo Boss, but I never felt second class in my M&S gear.
The World has changed! NHS Dentistry is bottom of the Priority list, and the Government are hoping “it will go away”
Visit www.newcastledental.com, and see what you get for being a Plan member.
Be reassured, if this Government, or any future Government wants to “Rescue NHS Dentistry”, then we’ll have no problem with you cancelling your Plan, and returning to being a NHS Patient, but current Funding and attitude towards NHS Dentistry is making the whole Profession wanting to ditch it!
The bottom line is regular attenders have better teeth and need less treatment. Sadly we are currently unable to consistently offer regular Examinations and prompt treatment of issues discovered.
Children of Practice Plan adults will be incorporated in the more responsive Examination regime

At Dp Rundle Dental Care in Newcastle we provide our patients with high quality dentistry using the latest dental technology and techniques. Enquire today.

FAIRYTALES

No doubt Liz Truss will soon be telling you that NHS Dentistry is returning to normal. Sorry, but that simply isn’t the case with ourselves, and most of our colleagues in Newcastle.

Despite our NHS List getting SMALLER (people die, move away, become Private patients, don’t like us or are booted out due to missing appointments), our waiting times are getting longer- I’ll publish waiting times this evening. We’re finding even our regular patients, each have more work to do.

Interesting how 3 years ago, we were on top of our work, whilst accepting around 160 New Patients a month

We intend to address this in two ways

1. Stall sending out your routine Reminders- We don’t intend to send out your September Reminders, until at least October

2. Install an extra Surgery in our Denton Rd Practice, thereby increasing our Private capacity.

Sadly the chances of receiving extra Funding for NHS Treatment are ZERO, so, currently, the only way forward is Practice Plan

All our August recalls were sent out today

Don’t foresee taking on New NHS patients before April 2023 at the earliest. Our aim is to be providing a top quality, responsive service to our existing patients, before increasing our patient base. Currently the possibility of recruiting an additional dentist, to increase capacity , is remote

The beginning of the end?

BBC Wales seem to have indicated that 6monthly NHS Checkups are to be withdrawn in Wales. Is this the start of a slimmed down NHS Dental Service, and will it be adopted in England?

Increasingly we’re seeing evidence of “detachment“, by the Government from NHS Dentistry. Having been “Proud to serve the NHS” for the past 40 years, we are debating whether this Practice ethos is slowly being undermined.

For those that want regular six month check ups, and cleans, it may be sensible to visit our website www.newcastledental.com, and consider our Private scheme.

I feel it’s time to change our Practice logo from “Proud to serve the NHS”, encompass reality, and change to “Your smile is your strength”. Many of colleagues feel that the Government consider NHS Dentistry is an irritation

NO CHANGE

The Government announced a few minor tweaks to our Contract yesterday, and will no doubt be flooding the Press with messages like “Dental Contract modified to encourage NHS dentists to see “high needs’ New NHS patients”-— Don’t believe it! It’s yet more Political “smoke and mirrors”
Our priority will still be to catch up on our existing patients, and not pushing them further down the line, so that they become “High needs”
