Cold sores (caused by the herpes simplex virus) are highly contagious, especially when the blister is present or healing.

If dental treatment is carried out while a cold sore is active, there is a risk of:
❌ Spreading the infection to other areas of the face or mouth
❌ Delayed healing and increased discomfort
❌ Infection risk for both the patient and dental team

For everyone’s safety, we may need to postpone non-urgent dental treatment until the cold sore has fully healed. This helps protect you, other patients, and our staff.

If you have a cold sore or feel one starting before your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible — we promise to be understanding 💙

1️⃣ Wear your aligners as prescribed
For best results, aligners should be worn 22 hours a day — consistency is key to keeping treatment on track.

2️⃣ Only remove them to eat or drink
Take aligners out for meals and hot drinks to avoid damage or staining. Water is fine while wearing them 💧

3️⃣ Keep aligners clean
Rinse daily and gently brush with a soft toothbrush (no toothpaste) to prevent odour and buildup.

4️⃣ Change aligners on time
Switch to your next set exactly as advised — this keeps your teeth moving safely and effectively.

5️⃣ Attend your review appointments
Regular check-ups allow your dental team to monitor progress and make sure everything is moving as planned.

Today we’re shining the spotlight on one of the true pillars of our practice — our receptionist Dawn who has been part of our team for almost 40 years!

From welcoming generations of patients with a friendly smile to being the calm, reassuring voice at the front desk, her dedication, loyalty and care have helped shape the practice into what it is today.

In her free time Dawn likes her holidays abroad, dressing up and spending time with her family. Especially her grandson 💙
