✨ COMPLEX SMILE TRANSFORMATION ✨
This case had a bit of everything going on:

🦷 Missing upper right lateral incisor with full space closure
🦷 Hypodontic upper left lateral
🦷 Midline way off
🦷 Crossbites
🦷 Significant crowding

What I did:
✅ Invisalign treatment to put the teeth into the right positions
✅ Whitening to lift and freshen
✅ Ceramic veneer + adhesive bridge to finish

Treatment took a while — and with a case like this, it should.

The goal isn’t a quick fix. The goal is to get it right and it’s achievable by careful planning, close monitoring, and a big-picture approach which made all the difference.

Severe bruxism and past extractions had left this patient with a class III occlusion and worn dentition. Using a fully digital and minimally invasive approach, we restored both function and aesthetics.

Treatment included:
💫Digital Smile Design
💫Invisalign
💫Boutique Whitening
💫Monolithic zirconia restoration
💫DSD Direct composites

I raised the vertical dimension by 1.5mm in the restorative phase and used preparation guides from DSD to minimise the tooth tissue removal.

The result? A confident, functional smile designed to last.

Had the pleasure of joining a panel at the Dentistry Show Birmingham this weekend on behalf of .

Alongside , Stephen Henderson and Theresa Thorp (FTP Executive Director at the GDC), we had an open and important conversation around:

• Timeliness in Fitness to Practise case progression
• The ongoing challenge of “blue on blue” referrals
• Positive changes the GDC is aiming to implement

Really encouraging to see honest dialogue and a shared desire for improvement in how we support and regulate the profession.

🌟 Additional qualifications or training in restorative procedures are preferable, as well as a strong commitment to CPD.

💫 THE POWER OF DIGITAL PLANNING 💫.
Here we have a small upper lateral tooth, a missing upper lateral tooth, a retained baby canine tooth and the adult canine tooth in the wrong place 😨 as well as other problems with the tooth positions.
Using the digital planning tools in the Clincheck I was able to move the canine back where it should be, open the space for the missing tooth and widen the space around the smaller tooth all with a good degree of accuracy.
We finished with a temporary adhesive bridge for the space and bonding on the right incisor until the patient is older to look at more permanent options.

Back to doing what I love 🤍

I had an amazing week in Seville with my colleagues Dr French and Dr Murdoch attending the DSD Residency 2 course watching the clinical procedures.

We've all learnt so much watching the patients being treated live with the latest digital design techniques and technology, ready to bring the real DSD to The Briars.
