Patients have been let down by the Conservatives on dentistry. On Thursday, I visited Princes Crescent Dental Practice with Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting and spoke to their fantastic staff.

We heard about the pressures put on dentists and Labour’s plans to reform the dentistry contract and create more appointments and spaces.
This is so important in preventing ill health as well; good local dentists able to catch poor oral health before it develops.

Covid Guidelines Update: Although all the Covid restrictions are being lifted on the 24/2/22, our current guidelines have not changed.
We therefore ask patients to continue to wear a mask while in the practice (unless exempt)
& we will continue to do Covid screening calls.
Please let us know if you have a suspected respiratory condition (anything from Covid to a cold) as this may mean your appointment may have to be delayed.

Can patients who have been asked to self isolate or tested positive with covid, please call to cancel their dental appointments before we call to do the covid screening questions the day before.
Due to appointments being in high demand this allows us to fill the appointment slot.
Thank You.

Why do we ask you about how much alcohol you drink?

The resons for this are that if you drink alcohol or you smoke, this increases your risk of mouth cancer. If you both smoke and drink alcohol, this further increases your risk.
Men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis

To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level if you drink most weeks:

° Spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week

° If you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week

Fourteen units is equivalent to 6 pints of average strength beer.
A bottle of wine is around 10 units.
(see attatched picture for more examples)

So please don't feel offended when we ask how much alcohol you drink, we are simply looking after your oral health. 😁
