I've had patients sit in my chair and tell me they haven't smiled properly in photographs for years.
Not because they're in pain. Not because there's anything seriously wrong. Simply because they've become self-conscious about their teeth.
Some people learn to hide it so well that nobody around them even notices. They smile with their lips closed, avoid being in photos, or cover their mouth when they laugh.
The truth is that this is far more common than most people realise.
What I often find is that the changes patients think will be complicated are actually much simpler than they imagined. Sometimes it's whitening. Sometimes it's straightening. Sometimes it's a small cosmetic improvement. The first step is simply understanding what's possible.
A confident smile isn't about perfection. It's about feeling comfortable being yourself.
