At mydentist, we recognise the value that armed forces experience brings to our practice teams.

Across the business, colleagues with backgrounds in the RAF, Army and Royal Navy bring strengths such as teamwork, communication, adaptability, discipline and leadership. These qualities continue to support strong practice teams and consistent, compassionate care for patients.

This Armed Forces Day, we’re celebrating colleagues and clinicians whose careers have been shaped by the British Armed Forces, from those who served to those who trained alongside military teams, and the skills they continue to bring to patient care.

Today, we’re proud to spotlight Sarah “Bobby” Keeling at mydentist Oakham, Victoria Hunt at mydentist South Brent, Lynne Hyndman at mydentist Exmouth and Nichola Atkins-Heed at mydentist Alresford, all Dental Hygienists whose journeys reflect the lasting impact of military experience within dentistry.

Read our blog to discover more about their stories and the paths that led them to mydentist.

For Dr Ruairi Leonard, Clinical Development Advisor and Associate Dentist at mydentist Blyth, Pride is about creating a space where people can feel comfortable being themselves and connecting with others openly. 🌈

In his role, working with patients, colleagues and self-employed clinicians who choose to practise with us, Ruairi values the importance of bringing personality into practice, using humour, openness and honesty to build meaningful relationships.

Ruairi shared: “I love being me, feeling comfortable to joke with the staff and be light hearted and open helps me create a great rapport with both patients and the wider mydentist team.

“Pride in dentistry is about representation and creating a safe environment for our patients to feel accepted and welcomed. We show those who struggle with their identity that they are just like everyone else in our eyes. We are all humans with teeth no division there!”

At mydentist, it’s this sense of connection, individuality and shared understanding that helps create environments where people feel at ease to be themselves.

This Pride Month, we’re continuing to spotlight the voices of colleagues across our business, and the role a supportive, inclusive culture plays in shaping everyday experiences for our people and patients.

🏃‍♂️ Running towards something that really matters 🏃‍♂️

Our colleague, Pietro Capitelli, Nurse Recruitment Team Leader at mydentist, is taking on a 10K run to raise funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society, a cause that’s deeply close to his heart.

After multiple Cholesteatoma surgeries, Pietro is now living with partial hearing loss and raising awareness of this often overlooked condition. Rare and recurrent, it can have a lasting impact on both children and adults.

Having children of his own has only strengthened his drive, highlighting how important early intervention and awareness can be.

Pietro shared: “I decided to take on a 10K run just six weeks after surgery. It might not be the smartest idea, but it’s for an important cause and I’m determined to see it through.

This isn’t just about funds, but awareness. So few people understand this condition until it’s too late.”

Every donation helps provide vital support and reassurance to families who need it most. If you’re able to support, please consider leaving a donation via the link below.

🏆 Award-winning patient care at mydentist York

Earlier this month, mydentist York was named Dental Practice of the Year at the 2026 Yorkshire Prestige Awards - a fantastic achievement the team continues to celebrate.

The Prestige Awards celebrate organisations that have demonstrated exceptional performance over the past 12 months. Entries are assessed against criteria such as service excellence, quality of care, innovation, value and consistency, making this recognition a true reflection of the team’s dedication and impact.

Judges also recognised the volume of positive patient feedback, describing it as “a clear reflection of the trust and confidence patients place in the team and the practice’s evidence demonstrated both excellence in care and a genuine dedication to patient experience.”

👏 Congratulations to the entire mydentist York team for this fantastic achievement. Your dedication, professionalism and patient-first approach continue to set the standard for excellence.

For Susy Madrugo, Clinical Director at mydentist, Pride is about recognising individuality and creating a world where people can be accepted exactly as they are. 🌈

Working closely with patients, colleagues and self-employed clinicians who choose to practise with us, Susy sees the impact that openness and everyday acceptance can have across the business.

Susy commented: “For me, Pride isn’t about feeling proud in the sense of achievement, it’s simply part of who I am. What I do feel strongly about, however, is what Pride represents. Historically, people had to hide who they were, and that’s what has changed so significantly.

“It's not about shouting your identity from the rooftops, but about recognising and respecting individuality. It’s about creating a world where people are accepted as they are, without needing labels or explanations.”

At mydentist, it’s these everyday moments of openness, respect and understanding that help create a culture where people feel comfortable being themselves.

This Pride Month, we’re continuing to celebrate our people by sharing their stories and experiences, standing with our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, patients and communities.

Keep your eyes peeled as we share more stories from across our business in the coming weeks. 👀

336 bags. 8 minutes 50 seconds. One incredible team 🎉

The mydentist Support Centre team has officially set a new record in our Dentaid charity challenge - packing an outstanding 336 hygiene bags and beating the Senior Leadership Team’s previous total by 36 bags.

On the 11th of June, 12 volunteers stepped forward to take on the 300 bag benchmark. With teamwork, energy and plenty of encouragement from colleagues, they powered through the challenge to assemble essential hygiene kits filled with everyday items.

Every bag has now been delivered to a Dentaid Mobile Unit in Manchester, supporting a clinic at Embassy - a charity helping people break the cycle of homelessness through housing, skills training and long term support. These hygiene kits will be given directly to people accessing the service, offering comfort, dignity and practical help.

A special thank you to Dental Directory for their generous donation, helping make this initiative possible and to everyone who volunteered, supported and cheered the team on.

This is just the start- keep an eye out for more ways we’re coming together to support our communities and make a real impact.

For Jahye Waring, Content Creator at mydentist, Pride is about having the freedom to be completely himself. 🌈

Travelling across the UK to capture the stories of patients, colleagues and self-employed clinicians who choose to practice with us, Jahye sees first-hand what inclusion looks like across our business.

Jahye commented: “For me, allyship at mydentist looks like people taking a genuine interest in one another’s stories and experiences, creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Whether I’m visiting a practice for the first time, interviewing colleagues about their journeys, or spending time with teams across the business, I’ve consistently felt supported and included.

“What stands out most is the openness of the people I meet. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and that sense of belonging and mutual respect is what allyship looks like to me in practice.”

At mydentist, by growing together, achieving as one and respecting each other, we create a culture where everyone feels they belong.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating our people by amplifying their voices and the stories that shape who we are, standing with our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, patients and communities.

Keep your eyes peeled as we share more stories from across our business in the coming weeks. 👀

At mydentist, we’re proud to announce that we’re enhancing family-friendly benefits.

As the UK’s leading provider of affordable dental care, we know that taking care of our people helps them take care of millions of patients every year.

That’s why from October 2026, eligible colleagues across mydentist’s 500+ practices and Support Centre will benefit from enhanced maternity, adoption, shared parental and paternity leave.

This includes 13 weeks at full pay for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, alongside four weeks at full pay for paternity leave.

The launch forms part of our continued investment in our colleagues, alongside an extra £6 million investment in pay this year, increased support for development and mental health, and our ongoing commitment to building a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported and able to thrive.

Libby Jones, Chief People Officer, said: “Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Whether they are caring for patients in a practice, supporting colleagues from our Support Centre or managing one of our 500+ practices, they make this organisation what it is. These changes are important as we want to continue to support our people in the moments that matter. We are listening, and we are investing.”

09/06/2026

At mydentist, our culture is built on respect, inclusion and community - values we live by every day. So, this Pride Month, we’re marking the occasion by celebrating our people. Without them, we couldn’t deliver the outstanding care our patients depend on.

We want to show our support to our people, elevating their voices and celebrating their identities, from our field teams, our practices and our Support Centre, because we’re proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ colleagues, patients and communities.

Whether you're part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, help us recognise the people behind the smiles - and the stories that make us unique.
