A real pleasure to welcome the Mayor of Bollington, Cllr Dickie Fletcher, to the practice, where principal dentist Dr Ellie Burrows and practice manager Sarah Phillips showed him around.

Then came a lovely moment. The Mayor showed us the names engraved on his chain of office, and there among them was Sarah's grandfather, who held the same office years ago. Sarah knew, of course. The rest of us had no idea, and she had never thought to mention it. She has worked at this practice since she was sixteen, so her family has been quietly serving this village for rather longer than we realised.

He also wanted to hear how things have been changing here, and there was plenty to show him: the repointed building and its new sign, the investment we keep making in equipment so that more treatments can be done under one roof, and the part a practice like ours plays in village life.

Bollington Dental Practice has looked after this town since 1977. We are proud to sponsor Macclesfield FC, the children's teams at Bollington United and Bollington Cricket Club, many of our team live locally, and some families here have trusted us across three generations.

Thank you to the Mayor for taking the time to visit, and for showing us a piece of Bollington history that had been hiding in plain sight.

Carl and the team at the C**k & Pheasant have gone independent as a free house and we've been family-run on the same road since 1977, so doing something together felt obvious.

Inspected by the CQC. Every standard met. ✅

In June, the Care Quality Commission carried out a full inspection of our practice, covering all five of their key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

The result: regulations met across the board.

A few things the inspectors highlighted:

👥 Staff with the skills, knowledge and experience to care for you properly
🌱 Strong leadership and a culture of continuous improvement
💚 Patients treated with dignity and respect

Our favourite part wasn't written by the inspectors though. It came from you. On the day, they gathered feedback from our patients, including this one:

"The staff are very caring and friendly, I would always refer the practice to friends who are looking for a great dentist."

Thank you to our brilliant team of 16, and to every patient who shared their experience. This is what 49 years of caring for Bollington looks like, and we're just getting started.

🎉 39 years of Sarah! 🎉

On 13th July 1987, a young trainee nurse walked through our doors for her first day at Bollington Dental Practice, taken on by our founder Dr Dave King. Thirty-nine years later, Sarah is still here, now leading the whole team as our Practice Manager.

From trainee nurse in 1987 to becoming Practice Manager in 2025, Sarah has been part of the lives of thousands of Bollington patients. Many of you were welcomed to your very first appointment by her, and plenty of your children and grandchildren since!

Behind every appointment that runs on time and every patient who leaves smiling, there's Sarah making it all work. We're very lucky to have her and grateful for everything she does.

Please join us in wishing Sarah a happy 39th work anniversary. Here's to year 40! 🥂🦷
