"Sugar free" and "no added sugar" β€” they sound pretty similar, but when it comes to your teeth they're not quite the same thing!
Neither label means a drink is completely tooth-friendly. Acidity is just as much of a concern as sugar content when it comes to your enamel. 🦷
Our top tips:
βœ… Water is always the best choice for your teeth
βœ… If you do enjoy fizzy or fruity drinks, have them with a meal rather than sipping all day
βœ… Wait 30 minutes before brushing after an acidic drink
βœ… A straw can help reduce contact with your teeth
Any questions about your diet and your dental health? We'd love to help β€” book via the link in our bio.

If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, it can be easy to assume you're just brushing too hard β€” but bleeding gums are actually one of the earliest signs of gum disease, and something we'd always recommend getting checked out.

Gum disease (also known as gingivitis in its early stages) is caused by a build-up of plaque along the gumline. The good news is that when it's caught early it's very treatable β€” and in many cases completely reversible with the right care and a good hygiene routine.

Left untreated though, gum disease can progress and lead to receding gums, loose teeth and even tooth loss over time. So if your gums are bleeding regularly, please don't ignore it!

Other things that can cause bleeding gums include brushing too hard, hormonal changes, certain medications, and vitamin deficiencies β€” all things we can help you get to the bottom of at a check-up.

The most important thing to know? Bleeding gums are your mouth asking for help β€” and we're here to give it.

Here are some of the tell-tale signs to look out for:

Worn or flattened teeth β€” your teeth can literally grind down over time
Jaw pain or stiffness β€” especially first thing in the morning
Headaches β€” particularly around the temples when you wake up
Increased tooth sensitivity β€” as the enamel wears away
Earache β€” without any ear infection present
Disrupted sleep β€” or a partner telling you they can hear it!

The good news is there's a really simple and effective solution β€” a custom-made night guard. It fits over your teeth while you sleep, protecting them from the damage caused by grinding and taking the pressure off your jaw.
If any of this sounds familiar, it's worth having a chat with us β€” we can take a look and find the best way to help. Book via the link in our bio.

Say hello to Hammad!
Hammad is one of our general dentists and has been part of the Kibworth family for almost two years now β€” and we absolutely love having him here. He works across both Kibworth Dental and Thatch House, bringing the same warmth, care and clinical skill to every single patient.
Graduating in 2019, Hammad brings bags of experience and a genuine passion for making every visit as comfortable, informed and caring as possible. As a general dentist, he's your one-stop shop for pretty much everything in dentistry β€” and when specialist care is needed, he's got wonderful colleagues to refer you to.
Here's the fun bit though β€” Hammad became a dentist for a brilliantly childish reason. His cousin didn't get into dental school, so he decided to be the first one in the family to make it happen! But what started as sibling rivalry has turned into a genuine love for the profession. He genuinely believes dentists are integral to the community and loves the chance to give back every single day.

If you've seen Hammad in the chair, you'll already know why we're so lucky to have him on the team. Brilliant clinician, brilliant person.

Meet Dr Hind Sinan β€” our implant dentist.

If you're thinking about dental implants or need expert surgical care, Dr Hind is your person. With postgraduate certificates in implant dentistry from both the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the British Academy of Implant Dentistry, plus a membership in laser dentistry from Aachen University in Germany, she brings world-class expertise to everything she does.

Hind graduated from Baghdad College of Dentistry in 2002 and has spent over two decades building an impressive career across Iraq, China, the Philippines, and Dubai β€” where she gained vast experience as a dental surgeon before bringing her skills back to the UK in 2020. She's a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and registered with the General Dental Council.

Her specialisms are dental surgery, laser therapy and paediatric dentistry β€” so whether you need implants, specialist surgical care, or treatment for the little ones, Hind combines technical expertise with genuine warmth and care.

We asked Sylvia how she ended up becoming a dentist.

It turns out it all started with a routine check-up. After finishing school with a love of science and no clear idea of what came next, a trip to the dentist of all places sparked something.

She got herself a job as a dental nurse in the next village, fell completely in love with it, applied to university β€” and 26 years later, here she is! 😊

We think it's safe to say dentistry found the right person. We're so glad it did!

Say hello to the wonderful Dr Sylvia Bentley! πŸ‘‹πŸ˜Š

Sylvia is our Associate Dentist at Thatch House and honestly, she's been part of the fabric of this community for years. She originally joined Long Buckby Dental Practice back in 2010 as principal dentist, so when Deep and Sheena took over in 2021 we were absolutely delighted she stayed on β€” her patients wouldn't have had it any other way! 🦷

Qualifying from Guy's Hospital London in 2000, Sylvia brings a wealth of experience and a brilliant range of skills to the practice, including composite bonding and orthodontics with SureSmile. She's the kind of dentist who truly gets to know her patients and takes real pride in the results she achieves for them.
