It sounds silly, but a bucket of paint almost ruined my only day off.
We were painting the house recently, and everything was going fine until the third coat went on. Suddenly, the color was completely wrong. It was too deep, too heavy, and instantly, I felt my stress levels spike.
This was my Sunday. My one day to decompress, and instead, I was standing in a room I hated, letting a minor detail take up massive headspace.
Then, a mantra I’ve been trying to live by echoed in my head: Don’t stress about the decision. MAKE the decision work for you.
Suddenly instead of spiraling about repainting, I got excited!! What if we bought new frames to balance out the depth of the color? What if we changed the furnishings to make the room look even better than my original plan?
When you develop this mentality, it bleeds into every part of your life.
The ability to adapt, to refuse to get stuck in indecision, and to take a “bad” situation and actively make it better is an absolute superpower, I am not saying I have perfected but it’s definitely something that’s helped to me. I just had to share this. Whether you’re painting a living room or navigating a complex career move, moving forward is always better than standing still.
This is exactly the kind of resilience we build together in our dental community 🫶
