Does root canal treatment mean the whole tooth is “dead”?

Not exactly. While the pulp inside the tooth is removed, the tooth remains supported by living tissues around its root.

Root canal treatment aims to preserve the natural tooth where possible.

Suitability depends on clinical assessment.

Our patient came in with pain when biting. During her assessment, we found secondary decay beneath a crown on a previously root canal-treated tooth.

Problems developing beneath an existing crown are not always obvious at first. Regular dental reviews can help identify changes that may otherwise be easy to miss.

Dr Revnak talks us through what we found and how the case progressed.

Meet Halit Dervis, Clinical Director at Attelia London.

Alongside his clinical role, Halit works closely with our clinicians and plays an important part in shaping the patient-centred approach across our practice.

A key part of his philosophy is simple: listen carefully, communicate clearly and give patients the information and space they need to make informed decisions about their care.

For Halid, building trust and long-term relationships is an important part of dentistry.

Considering a dental implant does not have to begin with deciding yes or no.

It starts with understanding what an implant actually is and whether it may be appropriate for your individual oral health. A clinical assessment can look at factors such as gum health, bone levels, your bite, medical history and the teeth around the missing space.

For some people, an implant may be one option. For others, another approach or an earlier stage of care may need to be considered first.

A clear assessment helps you understand the options before making a decision.

Considering dental implants and wondering what the first step should be?

Before choosing a treatment, it is important to understand your oral health, medical history, long-term maintenance needs and the alternatives that may be available.

Dental implants can be an option for replacing missing teeth, but the right approach will depend on your individual circumstances and a detailed clinical assessment.

Dr Revnak Akburak shares the factors that may be considered before a personalised treatment plan is discussed.

You can find further information about dental implant consultations and the assessment process on our website.

Clear aligner treatment involves more than wearing a series of trays.

The clinical planning process considers which teeth may need to move, how movement is sequenced and how the upper and lower teeth meet.

In this short video, Dr Revnak Akburak, Dentist, explains why clear aligners form part of orthodontic treatment and why clinical assessment and planning come before choosing an aligner system.

For some patients, aligners may be a suitable option. For others, a different approach may be more appropriate.

Thinking about clear aligners?

Clear aligner treatment should begin with a proper clinical assessment, not appearance alone.

At Attelia London, your dentist will assess your teeth, gums, bite and oral health before explaining whether clear aligners are one of your treatment options. Your plan may include a 3D digital scan, professional Airflow hygiene care, review appointments, guidance on aligner wear, and fixed or removable retainers after treatment.

This helps you understand the process before treatment begins.

Suitability depends on clinical assessment. Results may vary.

A dental assessment is a helpful first step if you are unsure where to start with your oral health.

It gives you time to speak with the team, ask questions, understand your current oral health, and discuss possible next steps before deciding on treatment.

Your assessment may include a comprehensive dental check-up, 3D digital scan and personalised treatment planning. Diagnostic X-rays are taken only if clinically required.

Does teeth whitening always damage enamel?

Not necessarily.

The subject is often discussed too simply, when the reality is usually more nuanced.

Whitening works on natural teeth, but visible change and comfort can depend on several factors. These may include sensitivity, the product or method used, existing fillings, crowns or veneers, and the reason behind the colour change.

That is why assessment can matter before deciding the next step.

Suitability depends on clinical assessment.
