Hello everyone

Regarding the Perio session we scheduled on Wednesday.
This session is an extra session to cover further advanced aspects of Perio and ensures good understanding of the topic as it’s assessed in both OSCEs and SCRs.
Those of you who are Best Dental Students have a recorded Perio lecture and a Perio SCR case, however, the purpose of the session is to explain and go in further details to ensure understanding of diagnosis and more importantly understanding and applying the steps of treatment according to the S3 clinical guidelines.
We will cover phases of non surgical treatments including the language that should be used in the exam whether for OSCEs or SCRs.
We will also cover different surgical procedures for the treatment of periodontitis as well as mucogingival surgeries in a basic easy to understand language that you can use in your SCRs

Master Understanding Periodontitis Diagnosis and Management for LDS and ORE with our online training. Book now for expert exam preparation!

Teaching is one of the most rewarding parts of my career, and I genuinely love what I do.
But I don't think people always see what goes on behind the scenes.

Creating content, constantly updating it to reflect new guidance, reviewing every piece of student feedback to improve the course, answering questions in the group, making time for one to one support when someone is struggling. It never really ends.

Teaching isn't a 9 to 5 job. If you truly care about your students, it can easily become every evening and every weekend too. Before you realise it, it starts to swallow your time. Family dinners become shorter, weekends disappear, and the laptop is never really closed because there's always one more lecture to update, one more message to answer, or one more student who needs your help.

Lately, I've been finding the balance difficult. My mornings are spent in clinical practice, and my evenings and weekends are dedicated to education. I wouldn't change either, but I also know that this pace isn't sustainable forever.

To my fellow colleagues, especially those balancing clinical work alongside teaching, how do you do it? How do you protect your own time while still giving your students the support they deserve?
I'd genuinely love to hear how others manage it.

I don't usually share messages like these.
But after reading so many over the last few days, I just felt incredibly grateful.
Every weekend spent running mock exams, every late night answering messages, every hour spent giving individual feedback... it's all worth it when I see students achieve what once felt impossible.
Passing an exam is always worth celebrating. But knowing that my students felt supported, encouraged and never alone throughout their journey means even more to me.
Thank you to every student who has trusted me and the Best Dental Training team. Being part of your journey is a privilege I never take for granted. ❤️

I am absolutely delighted to be returning to EDSIC 2026 as a speaker and to have the opportunity to contribute with two lectures that are very close to my heart.
"Regeneration Around Teeth vs Implants: Where the Evidence Diverges" will explore the current evidence behind regenerative treatment around natural teeth and implants, highlighting where similarities end and why understanding these differences is so important for clinical decision-making.
My second lecture, "Navigating UK Dental Licensing: A Guide to the ORE and LDS Pathways," reflects another area I am deeply passionate about. Having spent many years teaching, examining, and mentoring internationally qualified dentists preparing for UK registration, I have seen first-hand both the challenges they face and the incredible contribution they make to our profession. I look forward to sharing practical guidance, insights, and lessons learned from supporting thousands of candidates on their journey to practising dentistry in the UK.
As a clinician with over 25 years of experience and a special interest in periodontology, alongside many years in dental education, it is a privilege to combine both worlds on one stage.
A huge thank you to the organisers for the invitation. I am looking forward to seeing colleagues and friends in Cairo this September for what promises to be an outstanding scientific programme.
See you at EDSIC 2026!

I'm delighted to announce the launch of our LDS Part 1 Course!
Over the past few months, we've invested an enormous amount of time developing a course that is genuinely built for the LDS Part 1 exam, rather than simply adapting ORE content.
Every aspect of the course has been carefully designed around the LDS Part 1 syllabus, the Safe Practitioner Framework, and the latest UK guidelines, ensuring that every learning outcome is covered in a structured and practical way.
Our aim has always been simple: to provide candidates with high-quality, focused preparation that reflects what the exam is actually testing.
The course is fully digital, available 24/7, and allows you to study at your own pace, wherever you are in the world.
This is just the beginning, and we're excited to support the next generation of LDS candidates on their journey.
Welcome to LDS Part 1 by Best Dental Training. 🎓
