The truth about Nano-Hydroxyapatite in toothpaste 👇

There's a lot of misinformation online about nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HAP).

Is it safe?
Why do we need it?
What should you look out for?

People are right to be extra vigilant when it comes to nano particles.

But when it comes to nano-HAP, as long as you're using the right type, then it is a super effective (and safe) way to remineralise and protect your teeth. Nano-HAP has been used commercially in Japan since the 1980s, with widespread clinical efficacy and safety data behind it.

Just look out for two things...
📐Shape matters. "Rod-shaped" nano-HAP is the type that has been assessed over multiple decades for both efficacy and safety. The majority of safety concerns discussed online refer to "needle-shaped" nano-HAP. This is banned in Europe and not what we use in Nura.
🌐 Use nano-HAP from an SCCS-approved source. There is currently only one company in the world who have commercially available nano-HAP that has been evaluated at length by the SCCS. This is where we source the nano-HAP in Nura. Nowhere else.

So if you care about science, transparency and products that actually work...

🦷 Tooth sensitivity after a filling?..
Back in September, I had a filling replaced and immediately started having intense cold sensitivity on that tooth.
Cold water from my water pick = sharp pain.
Ice cream and iced drinks = awful.

My dentist told me there wasn’t much she could do.

So I started using toothpaste with hydroxyapatite (the only brand that has a high enough concentration of this ingredient!)
I didn’t expect much — but after about a month, the pain was completely gone.

Turns out hydroxyapatite is the same mineral our enamel is made of, and it can:
• Seal tiny exposed dentin tubules
• Remineralize microscopic defects
• Reduce sensitivity over time (not instantly)

Now?
Cold water doesn’t hurt.
Ice cream is fine again.

"I used to never recommend Fluoride-free toothpaste"

Hydroxyapatite (HAP) can be a powerful active ingredient in toothpaste - to remineralise damaged enamel, and enhance the natural lustre of teeth.

But there are three things to look out for, to ensure your HAP toothpaste really does work.

Dentist Dr Chris Yong (GDC 155452) explains in this video:

🔟 Most studies show you need 10% HAP or more, for Fluoride-equivalent protection. The majority of HAP toothpastes on sale contain 5% or less.
🔬Nano-HAP is needed for effective sub-surface repair of teeth. Micro-HAP alone will struggle to give your teeth the minerals where it matters most. (Just ensure it is rod-shaped nano-HAP, as this is shown to be safe)
🧪 Look for publicly-available test data. As there's no legal requirement, many toothpastes on sale have never actually been tested for efficacy.
