Here are five things you need to know about EARLY jaw expansion in children.
This is me fitting an upper jaw expander on a 9 year old.
She’s been mouth breathing for years with poor sleep and had been going to the dentist regularly.
Her jaw growth hadn’t been monitored and she’s now got severe dental crowding.
Her dentist had been saying for years that she’ll need braces and extractions when she’s older
But we can do something much sooner.
1. The jaw grows fastest between 3 and 5. Jaw Expansion at
this age is gentle, non-invasive and works with the natural growth process.
2. Expansion widens the jaws to create space for the tongue. This means space for healthier nasal breathing.
3. Expansion creates space for the adult teeth to come through as straight as possible - to minimise the need for invasive adult straightening with extractions
4. Expansion creates spaces for better quality sleep - so important in growing children - as deep sleep is essential for them to grow as nature intended
5. Expansion creates space for healthier face profiles and stronger jawlines. Not something you think about now - but it’s something your child will thank you for later.
