The British Dental Association along with dentists across the world 🌎 have praised Cristiano Ronaldo for removing two Coca-Cola bottles during a Euro 2020 press conference.

The footballer ⚽ pushed aside the Coca-Cola bottles during a conference and chose to hold a bottle of water whilst saying ‘Agua’, which appeared to show that he was encouraging the consumption of water 🚰 over the sugary drinks.

Chair of the British Dental Association, Eddie Crouch said “Tooth decay affects close to 3.5 billion people worldwide. Yes, water is the right choice.”

We hope this influences others to follow suit as there are many health benefits of drinking water.

Now we’re officially in the summer 🌞 months, it's more important than ever to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids 💧💧💧 than it takes in and these fluids are not replaced. The first sign of dehydration is usually a dry mouth 👄 👅 and this can have negative effects on your oral health.

A dry mouth can result in severe halitosis (bad breath) 🤢 and it can increase the risk of developing tooth decay! 😲

We strongly recommend keeping your mouth and body hydrated by drinking 6-8 glasses of water per day. 🚰

As today is National Toothbrush Day 🪥, here are our top 5️ toothbrush tips:

1️⃣ You should replace your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head every three to four months or sooner if the bristles look frayed.

2️⃣ During the two minutes ⏲️ of brushing, you should be brushing your teeth in circular motions and brushing every surface of each tooth to remove plaque and food debris.

3️⃣ Replace your toothbrush if you have been ill, as bacteria 🦠 can linger between the bristles.

4️⃣ Do not share a toothbrush as it can dramatically increase the chances of transferring bloodstream diseases and can leave you susceptible to all sorts of oral and general health problems. 😲

5️⃣ Always make sure you wash 💦 your toothbrush thoroughly after brushing and leave it standing upright to air dry properly.
