Autisim training at Toothbeary, because we like to create a more inclusive dental experience for every child 🧸

Our team took part in autism awareness and training to deepen our understanding of how we can better support autistic children when they visit the dentist 🦷

For some children, the sights, sounds, smells and unfamiliar environment of a dental practice can feel overwhelming. Understanding their individual needs, recognising signs of anxiety and adapting our approach can make a huge difference 💙

As paediatric dental professionals, it’s our responsibility to keep learning, listening and creating an environment where every child feels safe, understood and respected 💫✨

She does everything with love and always goes above and beyond for all of us, as well as being a massive part of running Toothbeary! And for that alone you deserve all the recognition in the world 💫✨

It all starts off with a simple yet very effective approach 🧸

We begin by making the experience feel familiar and approachable. Counting the teeth of their favourite soft toy, introducing dental instruments through touch and play and explaining what we’re doing in a way they can understand ✨💫

Step by step, we allow each child time to become familiar with the environment, but theres no need to rush! Sometimes those little moments of play and exploration are an important part of building trust and positive relationships! 🌈

With new uniforms, school runs, packed lunches and after-school activities, it’s easy for routine dental appointments to slip off the list! 🦷
