With more than 34 years of experience across private and NHS dentistry, Dominic brings a wealth of knowledge – and a particularly calm and understanding approach – to his patients.

Having spent much of his career in North London, Dominic is especially well known for helping nervous patients and anxious children feel more comfortable in the dental chair.

His experience spans a broad range of dentistry, including restorative and cosmetic treatments, root canal treatment, minor oral surgery and the restoration of dental implants.

But perhaps one of the best reflections of Dominic’s approach is the relationships he builds with his patients. Over the years, he has cared for generations of the same families, with many patients continuing to see him year after year.

Experienced, friendly and passionate about providing high-quality care – we’re delighted to have Dominic as part of the Kings Avenue Dental Clinic team.

Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms on your teeth every day. Brushing twice daily and cleaning between your teeth helps to keep it under control.

But plaque that isn’t removed can eventually harden into tartar, also known as calculus.

Unlike plaque, tartar can’t be brushed away at home and may need to be professionally removed. If left to build up, it can make it more difficult to keep your teeth and gums clean and can contribute to gum problems.

A consistent daily routine and professional care when needed can help keep your smile healthy.

Speak to the team at Kings Avenue Dental Clinic if you’re concerned about tartar build-up.

At Kings Avenue Dental Clinic, we want children to grow up feeling comfortable and positive about visiting the dentist.

We recommend bringing your little one for their first appointment when their first tooth appears, usually at around six months old.

And don’t worry if they don’t want to open their mouth straight away! Those early visits are often simply about getting familiar with the surroundings, meeting the dental team and gradually building their confidence.

As they become more comfortable, we can monitor how their teeth and jaws are developing, look for early signs of dental problems and help parents with brushing techniques and tooth-friendly diet advice.

By making prevention part of their routine from an early age, we can help give your child’s smile a great start.

"Is it possible to love your dentist surgery?! Well, I do! And I would never go anywhere else, from the fabulous Anne and Dee who are always so lovely, warm and friendly, to my dentist Gary with Jo where we always have a laugh (believe it or not!). My teeth history is a bit dire, and emergency appointments were constant but they always tried to fit me in. Now my teeth are excellent, thanks to them. I could not recommend Kings Avenue more."

Is it possible to love your dental practice? We certainly love hearing that you do!

Thank you for such wonderful words about Gary, Jo, Anne and Dee. Knowing you’ve felt welcomed, supported and looked after — through the emergencies and the laughs — means so much to the whole team.

We see so many images of ultra-white smiles that it's easy to start thinking anything less means your teeth aren't as healthy as they should be.

But natural tooth colour varies — and shade alone isn't a reliable way to judge oral health.

Instead, think about the things you can't necessarily judge from a selfie:

🪥 Are you effectively removing plaque each day?
🦷 Are your gums healthy?
🔎 Are there any signs of decay or other dental problems?
📅 Are you keeping up with your recommended dental appointments?

Wanting to change the colour of your teeth is a personal aesthetic choice. Keeping them healthy is another matter entirely.

Look after the health first — and if you'd also like to explore your cosmetic options, we're here to help.

We all have our little habits — but your teeth would happily say goodbye to these three:

1️⃣ Using your teeth as tools
Opening packets, biting tags or tackling stubborn lids with your teeth can put them at risk of chips and cracks.

2️⃣ Brushing harder to get them “cleaner”
More pressure doesn’t necessarily mean a better clean. Gentle, thorough brushing with the right technique is the goal.

3️⃣ Constantly sipping sugary drinks
It’s not only how much sugar you have that matters — frequent exposure throughout the day can increase the risk of tooth decay.

How many are you guilty of? 😬

This lip filler before & after is a great example of how dermal filler can be used to enhance the lips without changing what makes them yours.

Treatment can be tailored to focus on volume, shape, definition or symmetry, depending on your natural anatomy and what you’d like to achieve.

The goal isn’t the same pair of lips for everyone — it’s an individual approach that works with your features.

Love the result? Book a consultation with the Kings Avenue Dental Clinic team to discuss your goals.

🚭 Smoking and your smile: it’s about more than staining.

While discoloured teeth may be one of the more visible effects associated with smoking, there are other oral health considerations that you can’t necessarily see.

Smoking is an important risk factor for gum disease and oral cancer and is associated with tooth loss.

That’s why this Stoptober, we’re encouraging anyone considering quitting to think beyond the cosmetic benefits and remember their long-term oral health too.

Thinking of making a change? Evidence-based stop-smoking support is available to help you on your way.

☕ Coffee

* flavoured syrup
* sweetened cream
* toppings
= potentially more sugar than your usual order.

It’s easy to forget about sugar when we’re drinking rather than eating it.

Frequent consumption of sugary food and drinks increases the risk of tooth decay, so consider checking what’s being added to your seasonal favourite.

Fewer pumps of syrup, skipping sugary toppings or choosing an unsweetened version are simple options if you’d like to reduce the amount of sugar in your cup.
