From Thursday 5th November we will be entering Lockdown 2.0

Elstree Dental will not be effected by the lockdown and as an essential service will remain open .

At Elstree Dental we can assure you that we follow the government guidelines to keep our workplace safe for you, the patient.

We are using the correct PPE and making sure that all areas are cleaned thoroughly between patients.

Ultimately we are here for you and will continue to look after your smile.

We are working on an appointment only basis and would ask that you do not turn up unless you have an appointment booked.

Over the last week all dental practices, including ourselves, have been working extremely hard to put into place a new structure with respect to how we deliver our services. The focus has been on new cross infection procedures and how to make sure we are going to work in a safe manner following the new NHS strict guidelines.

One of the biggest challenges has been sourcing the correct PPE, which is a key element to the service we provide. There has been considerably reduced availability and this will lead to a delay in being able to resume providing care. The PPE shortage was mentioned in the BBC news on Friday (link below) where it was reported that there is the potential that only just over a third of dental practices would be able to open safely tomorrow.

With this in mind:

-Please contact us only if you have an emergency.

-If you are unable to get through to the receptionist, please leave a message with your name, phone number and concern. Alternatively, please email us on [email protected] . We will then be able to respond to your call.

-We will initially be prioritising patients with urgent needs from those that have been triaged over the last two months including those classified as vulnerable.

-We will initially only be providing treatment without the use of the drill. This means it will not involve any aerosol-based procedures which are of a higher risk.

-Our focus will be on stabilising teeth in the short term and then as restrictions are lifted, we will then be able to provide more definitive care.

-Due to the restrictions put in place regarding social distancing, our capacity to see patients is also quite heavily reduced. This means we will be seeing fewer patients per day.

All of these new measures are there for your safety as well as the safety of our wonderful team.

Once again, please be patient with us as we safely phase back in our services in line with government guidelines.

Practices in England can reopen from Monday, but many say they will not be ready.

COVID 19 DENTAL UPDATE MAY 29 2020

As you may be aware, Dental practices are now able to begin face to face contact with patients from Monday 8th June. This definitely is positive news and from now until that date we will be working hard to make sure we will be ready.

We would like to reassure you that a dental practice is already a very clean environment and even prior to the pandemic our infection control measures were of a very high standard. Please be reassured that all our staff will be complying with updated procedures to reduce the risk of cross infection in both directions.
We are aware lot of patients will be in a position where they need dental care and want to be seen as soon as possible. We will need to approach this situation with caution and follow the new guidelines set out by the government.

We will need to prioritise patients based on urgency of need and the unmet needs of vulnerable groups. Our ability to see patients will also be determined by our capacity to undertake work because of guidelines that must be followed to ensure your safety and the safety of our team. Please be aware initially, this means will only be able to work at a very reduced capacity. Please be patient with us and know that we are working hard to ensure we are ready to help you.

At Elstree Dental we would like to thank you, our patients, for your patience at what is a difficult time. We are still sadly closed in accordance with government guidelines but there is a lot of work going on in the background.
