Lots of patients ask about dental materials . I stopped using the old ‘silver’ metal fillings containing mercury many years ago. Now we use tooth coloured composite material.
Composite comes in different strengths, colours and varies in its overall hardness. The material is made up of many ingredients but put simply is like a “plastic & ceramic” mix.
What we don’t often talk about is that it has a special technique for placement, to get the best results , whilst minimal side effects. #

I’m pleased with the result of re- building this badly broken front tooth with a composite veneer.
The original accident happened many years ago when the patient started secondary school.
Over the years, she had become more self-conscious about her smile.
The little remaining natural tooth has discoloured , and I didn’t want to disturb it too much so have blended it with composite to
“Masque “ the discolouration.
It’s still looking good at 6 month follow-up and the patient is happy 😃🦷
