Not every OSCE station is about giving the “perfect answer” — it’s about showing safe clinical judgment, communication, and structured thinking under pressure.

Anticoagulation scenarios are commonly tested in IDC Part 2 OSCEs, especially when patients are anxious about bleeding risks before extraction procedures.

In scenarios like these, remember to:
• Take a focused medical history
• Assess the indication for anticoagulants
• Follow current FGDP/HSE guidance
• Discuss risks vs benefits clearly
• Reassure the patient and involve them in shared decision-making
• Mention local haemostatic measures where appropriate
