Meet the pro team! I work closely with Dr Alberto on treating, managing and preventing gum disease (periodontitis). We use a combination of patient tailored deep cleaning below the gum line, biological and enzymatic analysis and dental laser treatments under microscope. Together, we provide periodontal disease treatment and laser gum therapy.

I had my teeth scanned by Dr Chris just before lunch break, and I am going to share my experience:

𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Truth: The process of getting digital scan is in fact way more comfortable than filling your mouth with a foamy alginate material and hard, plastic trays. Many people worry about their gag reflex as the foam moves to the back of their mouth and slips down their throat. This is very common! We have been using this method for some time now, and our patients love it. It is less invasive, more comfortable and provides visibility into the inside of your mouth.

As you can see to the right, the digital scan allows us and the patient to view the result on a screen 💻🦷

As the month of November, the mouth cancer awareness month is coming to a close, we want you to know the main factors that increase the risk of oral cancer:

▫️Smoking – ci******es, ci**rs, pipes, and to***co use of any kind, including chewing to***co
▫️Betel nut chewing
▫️Social smoking – alcohol and smoking combo
▫️Heavy alcohol use
▫️Excessive sun exposure to your lips
▫️A weakened immune system

I will post some tips to help avoid the risk of mouth cancer in a separate reel.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

What to expect during an oral cancer screening?👅

An oral cancer screening is, in essence, a physical and visual examination of the oral cavity and connecting tissues and is done to reassure patients that there are no problems, or to initiate immediate and early treatment if there are.

For this reason, I routinely carry out a screening during a dental hygiene visit or an oral health check-up.

What I will do:
▫️I’ll pay particular attention to the neck, face, lips, and of course, the oral cavity itself.
▫️I’ll examine the back of the throat towards the tonsils
▫️I’ll look at the inner cheeks, the roof of the mouth and under the tongue.
▫️I’ll ask patients whether they feel any discomfort in a particular area as this may be an indication that further tests may be needed.

What patients might feel:
▫️Touching the head and neck area
▫️Feeling gently around the cheeks
▫️Checking inside the oral cavity to feel for any nodules.

The the whole process is non-invasive and takes just a few short minutes.

We’re delighted to announce that we have changed our name to Fulham Dental Clinic, FDC, and we have a completely new look.

Formerly known as Dental Beautique, we now have a new name, logo, and branding, but are at the same Fulham address and our outstanding clinical team remains the same.

We’re proud to be in the heart of Fulham and serve the community and surrounding areas.

When would I refer you to an oral surgeon? Whenever I spot something that doesn’t look like healthy tissue. Oral cancer does not get diagnosed at a general dental practice. Remember, referral does not = cancer. We refer to an oral surgeon for treatments of more common issues that require specialist diagnosis and treatment.

Justyna Kamecka explains 3 reasons why you might be experiencing bad breath:

🦷Problems with your teeth and gums, for example if you have gum disease or tooth caries. Bacteria accumulated below the gumline attribute to bad breath. You need to floss in a correct way, as well as brush the gumline gently. If the bacterial plaque has calcified already, you might need a hygienist visit to clean below and above the gumline to eliminate the harmful bacteria.
