☀️ 5 SUMMER FAVOURITES THAT CAN DAMAGE OR STAIN YOUR TEETH 🦷
Summer brings refreshing drinks, colourful fruits and frozen treats—but some favourites can affect your enamel and smile.
1️⃣ Lemon water 🍋
Frequent sipping exposes enamel to citrus acid, which may gradually cause erosion and sensitivity.
2️⃣ Blueberries 🫐
Their strong blue-purple pigments can cling to plaque and the tooth surface, causing temporary dark staining.
3️⃣ Iced coffee 🧊☕
Coffee can leave brown stains, while added sugar and syrups increase the risk of tooth decay. The cold may also trigger sensitivity.
4️⃣ Ice cream 🍦
Sugar feeds plaque bacteria, producing acids that weaken enamel. Very cold ice cream may reveal sensitive teeth or exposed roots.
5️⃣ Fizzy drinks 🥤
Sugary fizzy drinks expose teeth to both sugar and acid. Even sugar-free versions remain acidic and may contribute to enamel erosion.
Protect your summer smile:
💧 Choose water for regular hydration.
🍽️ Enjoy acidic and sugary treats with meals.
🚫 Avoid sipping fizzy or citrus drinks throughout the day.
🫗 Rinse with plain water afterwards.
⏰ Wait at least 30 minutes before brushing after acidic foods or drinks.
🪥 Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste—spit, but do not rinse.
