Composite bonding is not always as simple as it looks.
This patient presented with severely worn upper front teeth, stained old composite bonding, and chipped edges. Aside from the visibly poor appearance, his main issue was the wear of his teeth and a deep bite.
Composite bonding alone would have not provided this patient with a stable outcome.
Our vast experience in advanced prosthodontic principles, including assessment and stabilisation of bite, allowed us to manage this in this case in an entirely conservative and predictable way.
With a controlled opening of his bite, we built up the worn teeth with laboratory-made backings that were cemented onto the worn palate surface of the upper front teeth.
Direct handcrafted composite veneers were then used to build up the front surfaces of the upper front teeth, with the support and strength provided by the palate restorations.
This case was completed entirely additively, with no cutting down or preparation of the teeth, using a painless approach.
In this way, we provided this wonderful patient with a beautiful, natural, and entirely conservative smile that will remain stable and predictable in the long term.
