Meet the team: Dixita Patel 🍂

She started as a trainee dental nurse 14 years ago. Today she's our Chief Operating Officer and CQC Registered Manager, which is the official way of saying: if Blue Light runs smoothly, it's because Dixita made it so.

Rotas, standards, compliance, supplies, team spirit. She quietly holds all of it, and still finds time to mentor the next generation coming through.

“Does the hygienist have to hurt?”

I asked Gita, our hygienist, and her answer was blunt: it hurts because you left it too late.

When gums are already inflamed, even the smallest instrument on that tissue is uncomfortable. When they’re healthy, most people feel very little. What patients tell her again and again is that every visit hurts less than the last one, because their gums keep getting healthier.

If you’ve been putting it off because of a bad experience years ago, that’s usually the reason it was sore, and the reason it doesn’t have to be again.

Meet the team: Stephanie Bach 🍂

Our dental hygienist trained at King's College Dental Hospital, with a Diploma in Periodontics and, unusually, a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics too. So when she talks about your gums, she's seeing the whole picture.

Gum assessments, periodontal treatment, implant care and professional whitening are her territory, for adults and children alike.

Outside the practice you'll find her at London's theatres, cinemas and exhibitions. Ask her what's on, she'll have a recommendation.

Stephanie is with us on Fridays, so if your gums deserve some expert attention, that's your day.

Meet the team: Gita Broka 🍂

Our dental hygienist, and quite possibly your gums' new best friend. Gita holds an Oral Health Science degree from Essex plus a Master's, and she specialises in periodontal care and the Airflow cleaning system.

Her thing: sending you home knowing exactly how to look after your mouth between visits. Yes, there will be homework. Yes, it's mostly floss.

Fair warning: she takes gum health personally.

“I just brush too hard.”

Gita, our hygienist, hears it from 99% of new patients. It’s almost never the answer.

Bleeding gums are not normal. It’s a sign of inflammation, and a softer toothbrush won’t fix it. What actually changes things is how you clean between your teeth, and doing it consistently.

The good news: caught early, it’s very manageable. If your gums bleed when you brush, that’s worth a conversation, not a new toothbrush.

Nearly 30 years in dentistry, and the founder of this very practice. These days Monika lives on the aesthetics side: Sculptra, Profhilo, polynucleotides, anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers, all with her famously light touch.

Her philosophy is graceful ageing. Nothing frozen, nothing obvious.
