Here at Colosseum Dental, we are proud to have been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing™ by Great Place to Work.

Mental wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to support the mental health and happiness of our employees and ensure our teams have access to support if needed – such as our trained Mental Health First Aiders.

We encourage our teams to regularly check-in with each other and take time to listen and be heard. A simple ‘How are you?’ might be the start of a conversation that a colleague really needs and can mean so much. If professional help is required, they can be guided to our Employee Assistance Programme or organisations such as Mind or the Samaritans.

While we have a number of policies in place, nothing beats the active support of colleagues looking out for each other’s mental health on a day-to-day basis.

Celebrating our Colosseum Dental Group Chairman’s Award 2026: Our UK Winner!

Across Colosseum Dental Group, we’re fortunate to have colleagues who make a difference far beyond the dental practice. The Chairman’s Award recognises individuals who give their time, skills and energy to support others and make a positive impact in their communities.

We’re incredibly proud to announce our 2026 UK winner is… Rafina O’Brien, Dental Hygienist at Yeovil Dental Clinic!

Rafina is a wonderful example of the spirit behind the Chairman’s Award. Through her work with Dentaid, she volunteers on mobile clinics providing essential dental care to people experiencing homelessness. She also visits local schools to help children learn about the importance of oral health.

And her commitment doesn’t stop there. In 2025 alone, Rafina completed 3 ultramarathons to raise funds for Dentaid, alongside further fundraising efforts for Cancer Research.

To celebrate this year’s winners, colleagues and their companions across Colosseum Dental Group came together for an unforgettable week in Switzerland – from a welcome dinner overlooking Lake Zurich, to 2 days of Alpine adventures and shared experiences in Davos.

The celebrations concluded back in Zurich with the Chairman’s Award Ceremony, where each winner was recognised for their outstanding contribution to their community, followed by a dinner celebrating an inspiring week of achievements, connection and friendship.

September is National Gum Care Month and throughout the month we’re raising awareness of the importance of good gum health and highlighting the signs and symptoms of gum disease – one of the most common dental conditions we see in practice every day.

Dental Nurse Ruby, from Halford House Dental Practice in Newbury, explains some of the most common symptoms of gum disease and what you should do if you notice them.

Gum disease is very common, but it is treatable. If you notice symptoms such as bleeding gums, swelling, redness or tenderness, don’t wait until they become painful before seeking advice. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent the condition from progressing.

This is also why regular dental check-ups are so important. Your dentist can identify potential problems early and help you maintain healthy teeth and gums.

This September, we’re raising awareness of the importance of gum health as part of National Gum Care Month.

Dental Hygienist Aniruddho Karak, from The Care Dental Practice in Hammersmith, shares his top tips for maintaining healthy gums:

🔷Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
🔷Maintain a healthy, balanced diet
🔷Clean between your teeth daily using floss or interdental brushes
🔷Visit your dentist and hygienist regularly

Regular dental and hygiene appointments allow your dental team to identify the early signs of gum disease, including issues you may not have noticed yourself and provide appropriate treatment before they become more serious.

Chris has worked in a general practice for the past 12 years. In this time, he has gained a wealth of knowledge and skills in treating a huge variety of dental patients. He prides himself on his communication skills as well as the mechanical ability to deliver high quality dental treatment.

Chris is highly trained and experienced in all aspects of general dentistry that includes fillings, crowns, bridgework, dentures and root canal treatment. He is particularly skilled at removing teeth efficiently and painlessly. He is also able to provide cosmetic dental procedures such as cosmetic white fillings and veneers to improve smiles as well as clear braces to straighten teeth. Chris is also a huge advocate of further learning and aims to ensure all his patients have the most up to date treatment options available to them.

Away from dentistry Chris is an avid fitness fanatic with a specialist knowledge of nutrition.
