Happy birthday Cohan and we hope and pray youโre having the best road trips in the fanciest of cars!
We love you!
My message for you today:-
16th September 1974 - 16th September 2023. Cohan wouldโve been 49 today. He was planning a big bash for his 50th in his head. Ibiza? Majorca? Brazil?
He joked in passing if Iโd come and I said heโd better invite us cos wild horses couldnโt keep us away!
Our beloved Cohanโs birthday. It coincides with Malaysia Day (when east and west malaysia came together to form the Malaysian Federation.)
We always used to joke and thank Cohan for the public holiday.
We have so many memories of a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He was at the peak of his career and was so enjoying his life but unfortunately he contracted the NF bacteria that ultimately claimed his life.
Many people will say that the good die young, never having to suffer the indignity of illness and old age. Iโm not sure if thatโs actually true or something people say to make ourselves feel better. In either case it is Godโs will and thereโs nothing any of us can do about it.
Every single day we think of Cohan and till now we still sometimes canโt belief he has left us. Sometimes we think heโs in Londonโฆโฆโฆ.
With time we sometimes laugh again, fight and bicker amongst ourselves and get on with our daily routines but always in quiet moments our thoughts turn to Cohan. It doesnโt mean that we live and thus have forgotten him. That will never happen.
In 2 weeks it will be Cohanโs 1st death anniversary.
The day that shattered us. The day even the hardest of prayers were unanswered.
But it will also be a
day for us to remember and cherish our loving memories of the kindest, gentlest, most generous soulโฆโฆ.always the peacemaker who used his wit and humour to diffuse family friction.
Itโs Godโs will. The rest of us are left behind to mourn and to support each other. We all know how much Cohan loved the finest cars, fabulous travel and the good life. We remember his laughter, humour and love. He would have wanted us to continue to live, love and laugh. Iโm sure of that.
As we head to London again it will never be the same for us. Always there to greet us with a warm hug, always making a massive effort to entertain us and treat us to meals, drinks and ridiculously expensive toiletries. He was lavish in every way. Generous to a fault and he cared so deeply for his 3 beloved nephews and family.
Today, we celebrate Cohanโs life. A life well-lived. He travelled near and far, ate and drank copiously and enjoyed life to the fullest. Many a lesson there for the rest of us. He has taught us that each day matters and at the end of the day assets left behind is life less lived! Sacrifice and prudence only works out in some situations.
Pray for Cohan and remember him with a smile in your hearts. I know I do.
God bless Cohan and look over us in our time of need and grief.
