Dyson spent six years developing a toothbrush. And it might be one of the most ambitious oral-care launches we’ve seen in years.

The CameraJet is seriously impressive technology — brushing, flossing and rinsing in one device, with a built-in camera showing you exactly what’s happening inside your mouth in real time.

The part I find most interesting? Visibility.

Actually seeing the plaque you’re leaving behind could be incredibly powerful for changing the way people look after their teeth.

Sometimes a smile transformation is about so much more than the teeth.

This patient came to me feeling incredibly self-conscious about her smile. She would instinctively hold back from smiling, and even during treatment was very aware of how her teeth looked.

There were a few things we needed to consider:

→ Disproportionate tooth sizes and uneven proportions
→ One tooth appearing longer than the rest
→ An old traumatised central tooth with heavy discolouration
→ Negative torque and a narrow arch
→ Larger buccal corridors
→ Existing black triangles
→ Overall asymmetry within the smile

So rather than simply making the teeth *whiter and straighter*, the focus was on creating better proportion, balance and harmony across the whole smile.

Every detail was considered — from the shape and translucency to the textures, emergence profile and how the teeth sat within her natural smile.

And that final photo is exactly why I love what I do.

A patient who was once incredibly conscious of her teeth, now naturally smiling with so much more confidence.

A Rolex comes off. Your smile doesn’t.

And I think that’s why the definition of “luxury” in dentistry is changing.

The flex isn’t the whitest, straightest or most obviously “done” smile anymore.

It’s healthy teeth. Natural shapes. Dentistry so subtle you can’t quite tell what’s been done.

Because the most expensive-looking dentistry?

Training, structure and precision came first. Then came architecture, design and a completely different perspective on proportion, detail and the overall experience.
