It was incredible to see over 100 dentists attend this year’s FMR Summit this weekend.

Most dentists are comfortable doing single-tooth dentistry…but when it comes to full mouth reconstruction, many feel unsure about where to start.

During the summit I shared my 3-step framework for Full Mouth Reconstruction — a simple system designed to help dentists move from knowing the theory to actually starting and completing their first FMR cases within months.

The discussions, multiple case presentations, and engagement throughout the day were fantastic, and the feedback so far suggests that the months of planning were absolutely worth it.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and especially to the delegates who shared their cases.

This gentleman was referred to me for implants in the anterior region as his resin bonded bridges were failing. This was his 3rd set and he wanted something fixed. Unfortunately, he had 1.4mm thickness of bone and needed block grafting. He was on a clopidogrel and aspirin and high risk of bleeding. After discussing with his medical team, he decided to avoid implants and have cantilever bridges instead for now.

After full mouth assessment and further discussion, we decided to do lower posterior arch reconstruction and utilize the space for the anterior bridge. Patient wasn’t keen on ortho or anything more extensive as there was a lot going on with his health.

Upper and lower jaw models were mounted in CR with just enough opening so we could place lower posterior composite to cover the dentine exposure and get the curve of spee flatter. After mounting and wax up and I carried out mockup and gave patient provisional bridges for upper anterior region. After test drive of the mockup, we did adhesive reconstruction including building up of posterior teeth. Once dentition was stabilized, final upper bridges were made. Finally, Michigan splint was provided to protect restoration. Initial plan was to give him porcelain veneers but he was happy with the current situation so we decided not to do anything with the front teeth.
