It’s much easier to smile when you love your smile. We need to take photographs before we do any treatment to change your smile to make sure we understand exactly what we need to do to improve it.

The first photo was taken before treatment. This was the widest smile I could get, with plenty of encouragement.

‼️Black Triangles‼️Did you know that when you straighten crowded teeth, you can sometimes end up with black triangles.

This is when the space between the teeth is not filled with gum.

This is very easily treated with composite bonding and makes a huge difference to the quality of your final result.

Did you know that as you get older, your enamel gets thinner?Did you know that the enamel is thinnest at the gum line? It is hardest substance in your body and protects your teeth . If you overbrush your teeth or have too much acid in your diet, you can wear the enamel away. This exposes the inner part of the tooth. This is quickly damaged by acid, causing yellowing of the teeth and sensitivity.

So what should you do? We ca repair these with composite bonding, but the best thing to do is to prevent them.

How to slow down enamel loss:

1) use an electric tooth brush with a pressure sensor
2) disclose regularly to check how good your brushing really is - the dye doesn’t lie!
3) minimise how much acid you have as this can accelerate the wear
4) use a remineralising tooth paste that is free of sodium laurel sulphate ( I LOVE sensodyne pronamel enamel repair)
5) regular check ups - a dentist can spot this before you can!
