🔵 MEET THE TEAM 🔵

Natalie – Our Practice Manager

Natalie began her dental career as an apprentice in 2005, qualifying as a Dental Nurse in 2007. Over the years, she has gained a wealth of experience working in both general dental practices and hospital settings, giving her a broad understanding of patient care and the day-to-day running of a busy practice.
In early 2024, Natalie achieved her Practice Management qualification and has been our Practice Manager for nearly two years. She is a very hands-on manager who enjoys being actively involved with the team. You’ll regularly see Natalie around the practice—whether she’s supporting the reception team, helping in surgery as a dental nurse when cover is needed, or ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where both patients and the team feel supported, valued, and cared for.

🦷 Not all toothpastes are created equal! 🪥

Standing in the toothpaste aisle can be overwhelming with so many options available. But the best toothpaste for you depends on your individual dental needs.

✨ Here’s a quick guide:

🦷 Everyday Protection
Choose a fluoride toothpaste containing 1,350–1,500ppm fluoride (for adults). Fluoride helps strengthen enamel and is one of the best ways to help prevent tooth decay.

❄️ Sensitive Teeth
If you experience sensitivity when eating or drinking something hot, cold or sweet, a toothpaste designed for sensitivity may help. These contain ingredients that have an accumulative affect to help reduce sensitivity over time—but remember, persistent sensitivity should always be checked by your dentist and the affects of the toothpaste aren’t permanent, if you stop using it, the affects will wear off.

🩷 Gum Health
If your gums bleed when brushing or you’ve been diagnosed with gum disease, a toothpaste formulated for gum health may help reduce plaque and support healthier gums. Good effective brushing, cleaning between your teeth and regular dental visits are the most important things when it comes to gum health but a good gum specific toothpaste can definitely help.

✨ Whitening Toothpaste
Whitening toothpastes are great for helping remove surface stains as they are quite abrasive. However, they won’t change the natural colour of your teeth like professional whitening treatments can.

💛 Children’s Toothpaste
Children need age-appropriate fluoride levels, so always choose a toothpaste suitable for their age and encourage them to use only a pea-sized amount (or a smear for under 3s).

💙 Our Top Tip:
The type of toothpaste matters—but how you brush and how often you brush are even more important. Brush twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily, and attend regular dental check-ups. 🪥😁

🦷 MYTH BUSTER MONDAYS 🦷

MYTH: Bleeding from your gums is normal.

🚫 BUSTED!

The truth? Healthy gums shouldn’t bleed.

If you notice blood when you’re brushing or flossing, it’s often an early sign of gum disease (gingivitis). The good news is that, when caught early, it’s usually reversible with good oral hygiene and professional dental care.

❗ Don’t stop brushing because your gums bleed – plaque is often the reason they’re bleeding in the first place. Keep brushing gently, clean between your teeth daily, and book a dental check-up if the bleeding continues.

Looking after your gums is just as important as looking after your teeth. Healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy smile! 🦷✨

🦷 MYTH BUSTER MONDAYS 🦷

MYTH: Whitening damages your teeth.

🚫 BUSTED!

This is a very common misconception we hear in practice.

When carried out correctly and under professional guidance, teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile. Professional whitening products are carefully formulated to lighten the colour of your teeth without causing damage to the enamel.

You may experience some temporary sensitivity during treatment, but this is usually short-lived and does not mean your teeth are being harmed.

⚠️ The key is using whitening products correctly and ensuring your teeth and gums are healthy before starting treatment. That’s why we always recommend seeking professional advice rather than relying on unregulated products found online.

✨ A whiter smile doesn’t have to come at the expense of a healthy one.
