Good Evening folks!
Although the First Minister made the announcement at the weekend that we are in tier 4 from Boxing Day it was only today we had more information from NHS Fife.
So at present we can continue to see patients for treatment as long as we have the correct PPE/RPE to protect everyone.
As you are all aware we are working our way through the patients we know need treatment as well as seeing those with emergency problems. It is a very slow process due to the limited number of appointments we can schedule each day .... far fewer than before COVID.
This situation may change as more is learned about the new strain of the virus and as government control measures are adapted.
Please stay safe folks.

Good evening everyone 👋
We were holding off with another update until we heard what the Scottish FM announced today.
As we all probably expected, Fife has been moved to level 3 in the Scottish government’s lockdown measures due to case numbers rising.
For now this decision does not greatly affect the provision of care & services at our practice.
We are still permitted to carry out routine & emergency treatments for our patients.
However due to the , still, vastly reduced capacity, we continue to prioritise those in pain or having problems before tackling the back log of other treatments and thereafter routine check ups etc.
We would reassure patients from out with the Fife area, if they require urgent emergency care they will be permitted to attend.
Should we be issued with any further new information regarding Fife’s new level we keep
you guys up to date.
Meanwhile please stick to the rules folks.. face coverings, avoid crowded areas, wash your hands/ clean surfaces and if you have symptoms get tested and self isolate!
Take care all. Love from Levenmouth Dental Spa 🥰

Good Morning 😀
Not much to report just now, although we have had new guidance published which may allow us to reduce the fallow time ?? (time a surgery is to be left unoccupied)
We continue to see vastly reduced numbers of patients 😢 ...those with emergency problems being prioritised.
It is unlikely we will be able to provide routine appointments to begin the “catch up” as soon as 2nd November as there are so many factors working against us but we are ever hopeful.
We will let you know as soon as we have more updates.

Thanks, love from Levenmouth Dental Spa 👍🏻😀

Good Morning 🙂
Here’s hoping you are all well and staying as safe as possible.
So what’s happening at Levenmouth Dental Spa and phase 3 of lockdown measures, I hear you all ask????
Well it’s not as progressive as we would like unfortunately 😕
We were hoping to have both dentists in working each day. We also hoped to have some more staff back to help arrange appointments for the non aerosol routine treatments which we had to cancel previously, as well as answer any general questions or queries.
For now unfortunately it remains we only have one dentist and one nurse in practice each day triaging emergencies and where time allows booking in routine non aerosol treatments.
We are still limited to the number of patients we can see, likely to be only 10/11 per day this is due to the required time gaps in between patients.
As you may imagine we have quite a list of patients who need to be contacted.
It is our plan to contact those who require non aerosol treatments and get them in but this will be a slow process.
Meantime we are still preparing for the next phase where we can provide all treatments.
As we have no staff to answer routine queries please only call the practice where you will get the emergency mobile number if you have an urgent dental emergency.
We hope everyone has a lovely week and we will keep you updated when we know more .
Thanks :)

Good Evening All!!

As expected the FM has announced dental
Practices may move onto phase 3 of exiting lockdown from Monday.
Although FM made the distinction between aerosol generating procedures and non aerosol generating treatments, the reference to being able to carry out routine examinations is arguable.

Dentists need to be able to dry a tooth’s surface during an examination, using the air puffer...the 3 in 1 syringe to give it its proper name.
This blasts saliva from the tooth into the atmosphere , therefore creating an aerosol.

We have had no new guidance from the Scottish Chief Dental officer or our local health boards so there are still very many uncertainties as we move onto this next stage.

We are hoping to receive this new guidance today or tomorrow regarding our “do’s and don’ts”.

In order to prepare properly, arrange staff and appointments etc we will not be moving onto stage 3 at Levenmouth Dental practice next week . We will keep everyone updated when we are ready to move to phase 3.

So it will still only be those requiring urgent emergency care we can accommodate, triaged by the dentists.

The majority of the staff remain on furlough so the telephone will remain on the answering service, giving the info needed for dental emergencies. We still have no one available to answer queries or review messages for now.

As soon as we know more we will let everyone know

Have a great weekend all! 👍

Good Afternoon all!!
Well .....the FM announced this lunchtime dental practices can open from Monday next week for urgent emergencies.

Probably due to all the excitement of some restrictions being lifted, the latter part of her announcement... urgent dental emergencies... was a bit lost.

Sadly, Levenmouth dental spa will not be open next week. Although we have been planning and preparing over many weeks, our Phase 2 access will not start until Wed 1st July.

As you may imagine we have to risk assess everything (!) also develop / amend our procedures to ensure everyone’s safety.

Access is probably a more accurate description than reopening.

The practice doors will remain closed and the answering machine will remain on, only to provide the emergency number for those in pain.

We are to have very minimal staff, in order to reduce the potential exposure of individuals to others, therefore we will not have anyone to respond to routine queries.

Only those who have been contacted by the dentist will be allowed access to the building.

We will not be in a position to make routine, non urgent appointments or in fact be able to
provide any time scales for when these could possibly be booked. ☹️

These decisions are not ours but are based on the Scottish Government route map and the Scottish Chief Dental Officers instruction.

Returning to “business as usual” is likely to be some months down the line and the “usual” is likely to be quite different from what we are all familiar with.

We do understand the frustrations of our practice closure but your safety and the safety of our staff remains our top priority.

We hope you all enjoy the easing of the lockdown measures with your friends and family but remember to still be mindful of the rules.

Love from Levenmouth Dental Spa 😊 🦷

Good Afternoon folks!
So no definite time scales as yet but a wee bit more info to pass on.

For Scottish dentists phase 2 of lifting lockdown closures is split into two parts. Part a and ..... not surprisingly part b!

When we move to phase 2a, we will be able to see patients who have urgent dental
emergencies. No routine treatment.

Unfortunately we are still restricted to very minimal treatments and not able to use our drills or do anything which produces aerosols.

Appointments can only be made over the phone as only those patients booked in may enter the practice.

Patients will be asked questions to establish their Covid 19 status when booking the appointment and will be asked the same again when they arrive.

On arrival patients will be asked to use an alcohol hand rub as part of our Infection control measures. Same again before you leave the practice

We will need you to bring your own pen! 😳 in order to sign any paper work.

We normally see 30 ish patients per day per surgery but we are again restricted to a maximum of 10, with only one surgery allowed to be used.

We will be prioritising our patients on their clinical needs following the strict guidance we have received.

We want to keep patients and staff safe first and foremost.

We have no dates for the move into the next phase but as ever we will try to update you once we have more info.

Keep safe & well folks
