During pregnancy, your gums change because of surging hormones (specifically progesterone and estrogen) increase blood flow to your oral tissues and heighten your body’s sensitivity to plaque bacteria. Resulting in swelling, tenderness and bleeding when brushing or flossing.

✅ Use a soft bristled toothbrush
✅ Use interdental brushes or floss daily
✅ Have regular dental examinations and hygiene appointments
✅ If you have morning sickness, rinse your mouth with water and wait at least 30mins to brush
