Monday 11th May to Sunday 17th May 2026 is mental health awareness week. The theme for this year’s campaign is “take action”

A kind word, gesture or check in can make a difference to each of us and can go a long way in improving someone’s day 💚

Poor mental health can affect anyone regardless of age, background, income and social status and it is likely to affect someone you know 💚

this image shows the charred dental remains of Adolf Hi**er, which are the primary physical proof of his death in 1945.

These remains, consisting of a partial lower jaw and a nine-unit upper dental bridge, have been held in Russian archives (formerly the KGB, now the FSB) since the end of World War II.

Hi**er had exceptionally poor dental health and only four of his natural teeth remained at the time of his death. He had distinctive, complex metal bridgework and a "window crown" that made forensic identification highly reliable.

In 2017 and 2018, a team of French pathologists was granted rare access to examine these remains. Their study, published in the European Journal of Internal Medicine, confirmed the teeth were authentic by matching them with Hi**er's 1944 X-rays and the testimonies of his personal dentist, Hugo Blaschke.

Analysis of the teeth revealed bluish deposits on the metal bridges, consistent with a chemical reaction from cyanide. No gunpowder residue was found on the teeth, suggesting he did not shoot himself in the mouth, but likely through the temple.

In May 1945, Soviet war interpreter Yelena Rzhevskaya was famously tasked with safeguarding these teeth in a small jewelry box while they were being verified by Hi**er’s dental assistant, Käthe Heusermann.

While a skull fragment also held by Russia was famously debunked as belonging to a woman in 2009, the dental remains shown here have been repeatedly verified as authentic.
