This treatment by Tarig combined home whitening with conservative composite repairs to the front teeth ✨

Once the whitening was completed, direct composite was used to restore the edges of the upper right and lower left central incisors.

The result is a subtle restoration that complements the shape and colour of the teeth 🦷

A closer look at a recent anterior composite replacement by dental therapist Michelle 🦷

The existing composite restorations on the front teeth were replaced in a single appointment using direct composite, with rubber dam isolation throughout the treatment.

Last time, we shared the story of a patient whose tooth felt completely fine, but whose old silver filling showed all the warning signs of trouble beneath the surface.

When the filling came out, there it was. As expected, a crack running underneath the entire filling. Completely invisible from the outside and painless (for now).

Working slowly and carefully, we removed the damaged areas, used a special dye to check for hidden decay, and removed the crack as deeply as we safely could to protect the nerve inside. Then the tooth was rebuilt layer by layer with materials designed to behave like natural tooth structure, sealed and strengthened from the inside out.

We love that we're able to preserve the healthy portion of this patient's own tooth, and they didn't feel a thing throughout.

This is biomimetic dentistry. Saving teeth by working with them, not against them 👏🏻

Last week, we celebrated a very special achievement 👏🏻

A huge congratulations to Caitlin, who recently passed her dental nursing finals with flying colours, achieving over 90% and finishing top of her class.

We are incredibly proud of everything she has accomplished and look forward to seeing her continue to thrive in her career.

"But it feels fine?" 💭

That's what this patient told us, and they were right. No pain, no sensitivity, there were no signs anything was wrong.

This patient presented for a routine check-up with one of our dental therapists, with no symptoms at all. But when the risk assessments we use every day at The Gentle Touch were applied, the warning signs were there. This filling was quietly causing the tooth to break beneath the surface.

When teeth have big fillings and a heavy bite force, the tooth still bulges and flexes when chewing. Because traditional silver fillings are very strong, they don't move with the tooth, and this causes the tooth to crack over time.

We recommended treatment to safeguard this tooth for the long term. As expected, we found a deep vertical fracture which would slowly cause the tooth to split in the middle (and this can't be fixed). The treatment approach is in part two.

No pain doesn't mean no problem. It's why our check-ups are super important because we inform you of any risks 🦷
