Weโve had a few common questions from patients since moving to our new system, so we wanted to explain things a little more clearly.
Just a quick update about our new patient check-in process.
Since moving to our new practice system, Dentally, weโve made a few changes to the way we ask patients to complete and update their forms.
We know this has felt a little different for some patients, so we wanted to explain how it works.
Where possible, we recommend completing forms such as your medical history and updating your personal details at home through your Patient Portal. You should receive a link to this with your appointment reminders.
Your Patient Portal is also a really useful place to:
โข Check your upcoming appointments
โข View outstanding balances
โข See your treatment plans
โข Update your contact and personal details
โข Complete forms before you arrive
We understand that some of the questions within a medical history can feel quite personal. However, these are standard questions and the information is important to help our clinical team provide safe and appropriate care.
If you are attending for NHS treatment, there is also an NHS form that needs to be completed in the practice.
This isnโt a new requirement. Previously, patients would have completed and signed this part of the NHS paperwork in the surgery with the clinical team. We are now asking patients to complete it when they arrive using our check-in tablet.
By doing this before you go into the surgery, we can spend more of your appointment focusing on you, your oral health and your treatment, rather than completing administration together.
So, if you hear us say, โThereโs just one form to complete,โ even though youโve already completed your medical history online, this is likely to be the NHS form.
And please donโt worry if technology isnโt your thing. Our reception team are always happy to help.
If you havenโt yet set up your Patient Portal, or youโre having difficulty accessing it, just get in touch with us and weโll help you get started.
Thank you for your patience while we all get used to our new system. Our aim is to make your visits smoother, give you easier access to your information and allow our clinical team to spend more valuable time with you.
